I bought my first bow last year a mathews feather max. Being my first compound I can honestly say I wouldnt have ever spent so much for a mathews. I bought it off a friend who was having money problems and sold it to me for 200. Since then i have put a couple hundred into the set up. I absolutly love it. I will not sell or want to up grade to a newer mathews untill something bad happens to this one or i out grow it. For all of those who say mathews are to much, if you really want to be satisfied you better buy a mathews. You will have it for along time and love it.

I have used an old Hoyt/Easton Gamegetter II since 1987! I since retired it this year with a purchase of a Mathews LX. I don't know why I waited so long but this new bow doesn't even compare to my old one. I still plan on using my old bow from time to time but for the most part it will be put away this season. I got away from bowhunting (not archery in general) for some time but I am back into it full steam now!! This will be my first season using a release though!![:-][:-]

Thanks for all your replies, sometimes I believe we think the newest is the best and sell or give away what worked best for us.

I stick pretty much with them for a while. I hunted for nearly 20 years with a PSE Lazer Magnum, still have it and it shoots just fine. I then went to a PSE SR 1000 for 8 years(it's now my back up tuned with broadheads and arrows ready to go... I shoot it from time to time). My latest is a 4 year old Darton Maverick.

I have a 1996(?) era PSE Edge 1000C (kind of like one of Davidmil's PSE bows). Granted, I am still somewhat of a newbie (been shooting bows for only about 4 years now and bowhunting only 3 yrs), but I feel comfortable with the old dual cam, large axle to axle style bows. I mean, I have picked up Martins, Parkers, Hoyts, etc... and I don't know... eventually, maybe I'll get a nicer, faster bow. But the older style bows are deadly accurate, and that is what is important to me.
