TrophyLine Tree Saddle
Anybody try one yet???
I wonder if they are comfortable... ![]() The ad reads... "Lightweight and easy to carry, the Tree Saddle™ is ideal for the hunter who covers a lot of ground and needs a stand that affords 360° coverage of your hunting area. Weighing from 4.5 to 6.5 pounds, the Tree Saddle™ can be worn around your waist or packed, making it particularly useful for hunting spacious public lands in the West when you don't want to carry excess weight and need to set up quickly. The unique design allows you to quietly change positions in a tree for better shots and enjoy complete 360° coverage of your hunting area, while giving you the flexibility to quietly maximize shooting angles and positions. The Tree Saddle™ cradles your seat like a hammock, and allows you to quietly switch from a fully upright to a seated position for greater comfort. You can easily rotate to aim in any direction and at any angle, so you can hunt the entire perimeter around your perch. It's designed with a 5,000-pound-strength forged snap with a 2,500-pound-strength adjuster buckle and nylon webbing of 9,600-pound-strength. Hooking up in a tree takes little time after you've stepped into the saddle and tightened it up. It's safe and it's durable, with a weight capacity of up to 350 pounds. And you can use it to prepare trees for climbing stands and clear branches from around a tree. It's available in a range of waist sizes. You can choose the Leather Tree Saddle™ or the Camouflage Tree Saddle™, as well as optional Safe-T Steps. " |

RE: TrophyLine Tree Saddle
Never mind I found it, for what you get the price to me is a bit on the steep side, for my size it would cost $329 and to be honest I don't see how you could relax in one.
|
RE: TrophyLine Tree Saddle
Truthfully, I think you would get real tired real fast hanging in that. Try it and if you don't like it, return it. Then tell everyone here how it went. We'd love to know.

RE: TrophyLine Tree Saddle
It looks a lot like the tree suit. I think it's a great idea but no way should it cost as much a high end climber. For that price I don't care to find out how it works[:'(]

RE: TrophyLine Tree Saddle
i know some one who has this and its not THAT bad to sit in for a SHORT amount of time.. you do get a nice angle for a shot. and really there are no noises from that you woudl get from a stand... BUT again i didnt like it the 30 minutes i was up there and teh few shots i took for practice. IMHO not worth 300$!!!
:D |

RE: TrophyLine Tree Saddle
Wouldn't you need climbing spikes just to use it ?
Somehow I can't see anybody putting their weight on those uncomfortable things for long . |

RE: TrophyLine Tree Saddle
First off...it's $199.99 at Cabelas...CLICK HERE to see...
Secondly, you don't rest all your weight on the steps. When taking the shot/standing sure you'll have most of your weight on a couple steps...but people OWN THEM them say that they really comfortable to "sit" in....kinda like a hammock. Personally...I can tell you that 98% of the climbers out there have the seat part on the top piece of the 2 pieces. So...while sitting all comfy....you see a deer...you then stand on the platform piece (which is just sitting there with hardly any weight on it)...as you put your weight on the platform it tends to shift or settle. I'll bet that at LEAST 75% of accidents happen during this transition from sitting to standing. That's why...I always say that the BEST climbers have the seat ONLY connected to the same piece that has the standing platform. To me...if it isn't set up that way...it aint worth 10 cents. Now how many people here got money into those SUPPOSED "high end" climbers? LOL Anybody who has tried a climber with the seat connected to the platform KNOWS EXACTLY what I'm talking about. STABILITY is ALWAYS THERE...as is security. I'm gonna try one of these slings. I go 230 pounds. I'll be sure to do a review for yas... |

I personally would need some sort of back support or my back would be screaming at me at the end of the day.[:o]

RE: TrophyLine Tree Saddle
cabelas is 199 because they want to get them moving obviously they are not popular so they are trying to sell what they have in stock looks very uncomfortable
|
RE: TrophyLine Tree Saddle
Seems to me it's a waste. You still need to get up in the air some how. Screw in steps suck the first time you set them. Then I don't know about you but I don't like the idea of my feet breaking loose bark to fall on the ground. Nothing like saying to the deer "hey look up here".[:o]

RE: TrophyLine Tree Saddle
Ok guys I have one and I would choose my Oldman Grand Vision any day of the week over the saddle. It is nice if you are spotting deer in a field and you want to climb a tree just inside the wood line and put a ambush on them when they retreat to the woods after eating because it is quick and quiet. As far as long term sitting better get your back doctor on speed dial. But let me tell you they are the best thing in the world to have for hanging lock on stands just strap on to the tree and work with 2 free hands. High price to pay for hanging lock on stands though.

Alias, you wouldn't be the inventor of this would you, by any stretch of the imagination? You wouldn't be the owner of the company, right?

RE: TrophyLine Tree Saddle
lol....no....I just was wondering if anybody here tried it yet. Wanted a "real" review. Personally I could care less how some people think it. The original question was if anybody tried one. Seems out of all of the GUESSES I see here....we got one answer from a owner....Texarkanimal. I'll take his advice. Thanks Texarkanimal.
Livbucks...your feet would be on one of the pegs that you make the ring around the tree with. They wouldn't be danglin'. I'll just stick with my old Cougar Claw as I have not found a studier platform yet. I just wish the damn thing had cables instead of that old style flat bar. That and that nice Loggy Bayau seat on the XL. |

RE: TrophyLine Tree Saddle
and who ever said jumping out of your stand on your saftey harnes.. thats about what it felt like to me... |
RE: TrophyLine Tree Saddle
Yeah...I'm sorry....I saw that too. Just wanted to see how they were for people who actually used them.
Thanks man. |
RE: TrophyLine Tree Saddle
no prob.:):D
livbucks, its funny when i read yoru post, it reminded me of when i tried that saddle out! my first year bow hunting i heard storys of guys falling out of trees and hurting themselvs. well needless to say me being 18 i jumped out of mine teh second i got the harness hooked up, just a "test run" if you will and man did THAT hurt.. amung the top 10 stupidest things i have ever done. well after puting that saddle thingie to the test i mentioned it to my buddy that it feels like i just jumped out of my stand and am still hanging here! :D ;) thought you guys woudl like to hear that story... BTW i havent jumped out of a tree since then... |
RE: TrophyLine Tree Saddle
Looks like a waste of money to me. I think I'll stick to my Treestands and ground blinds. I can get at least 3 brand new treestands for the cost of one of those, you tell me, which is the better deal?
|
RE: TrophyLine Tree Saddle
Is it me or do I just not get it.Why hang in a tree with the little seat shoved up my a$$ for a morning or evening hunt. All that work to climb up the tree to just "HANG" around. If you have to climb a tree which i prefere then why not sit on a comfy seat with your feet firmly on a solid platform. There you can hunt comfortably, and to me feel a little more secure.:)

When I got my first hangon stand I put it on a tree about 4 feet off the ground in my backyard, just to get familiar with putting it on the tree and to see how comfy and whatnot. Well, it turns out that they give you a free safety harness, so I put that on to get familiar. So after sitting in the stand and talking to my Dad, who was standing there, I decided it was time to get down. I forgot I had the harness on and figured it would be easiest to just jump down. I jumped and right before my feet hit the gound the slack drew tight and all you hear is a big moan from me getting the wind knocked out. To add insult to injury I then swung around the tree and bashed off it several times. If you ever fall out of your treestand, your harness will save you from serious injury but it will still hurt a plenty. Trust me! |
RE: TrophyLine Tree Saddle
Good Lord... you bashed off the tree a couple times too? I'm sorry livbucks, but I just pictured that happening and just about fell out of my pc chair... laughing. Good thing I had my Kevlar helmet on and my ballistic shorts were tied off to the base of my chair. [:o]:D
On a serious note... has anyone read the bowhunting article that spoke of death from what's called "Suspension trauma"? I read it recently in a bowhunting publication and was not aware of such dangers with harnesses. I formerly used a waist belt, which is not the best method by far, and have for the last 2 years climb with my harness on AND attached to the tree. The suspension trauma issue was new to me and I urge everyone who uses a harness to read about it. From what was printed, it could mean saving a life just knowing that sitting idle while suspended leads to pooling of the blood in the lower extremities and eventually death. It was first found when workers were suspended by a harness to inspect difficult areas of job sites, being lowered into an area for a short period of time, not actively moving and then passed out, lowered the BP to dangerous levels and then they expired! Informative article to say the least. I have the issue here somewhere and will look for it if anyone is interested. |
