Cutting Diameter?
I am hunting black bear this fall and am wondering if the Rocket Ultimate Steel 100 would be an effective broadhead for bear. I have been told by a few people that the cutting diameter (7/8") is not enough for a good blood trail and a quick clean kill and that I should stick with the thunderhead 100. I am just having a little trouble shooting them in a consistant group. I am shooting a 28" terminator hunter arrow at 58 lbs and 226 fps. Any help would be great.

RE: Cutting Diameter?
Cant really go wrong with a cut on contact broadhead such as magnus, or muzzy phantoms.

RE: Cutting Diameter?
The rocket ultimate steel is an Ok head, but their are better choices for the money. the NAP Nitron, Rocky Ironhead 100, wackem and a few others. All give excellent accuracy, penetration and performance far and above the ultimate steel.

RE: Cutting Diameter?
Keep in mind that a bear has a thick coat, intern without a large cutting diameter the blood will clot up in the fur alot faster, therefor not leaving you a good blood trail, I use a muzzy 3 blade 125gr with a 1 3/16" inch cutting diameter. Never had one that left a bad trail, but I have only shot 2 bear in my life. what ever you chose to use good luck with it!

RE: Cutting Diameter?
its a little small for me but i shoot a lot more weight than you i would say whatever flies the best is what you should shoot. if it is a lung shot it doesnt matter whats on the end of the arrow its dead
