Trophy Ridge Fixed Pin versus Pendulum Sight
I was looking at purchasing a Tropy Ridge matrix, micro matrix, or pendulum sight. I have always used a fixed pin sight and like the idea of a vertical pin with the matrix and micro matrix. But I also have a tendency to misjudge distance and thought a pendulum sight may come in handy. If I were to get a fixed pin sight would it be better to get the matrix with 0.29 pins or the micro matrix with 0.19 pins? It would appear to me that the pendulum sight has the advantage of being a range finder but is a disadvantage if you ever wanted to shoot at distances greater than 30 to 40 yards. Has anyone had any problems with the Tropy Ridge sights? Any advice would be appreciated. I assume it is all personal preference.

I would look at their V Drive pendulum model... it's both a pendulum sight and an adjustable sight all in one. They are very well constructed, machined from aluminum with very tight tolerences. The benefit with the V drive is much like that of an open class sight, allowing you to mark yardage increments on a side reference tape and then, without tools, simply spin the actuator rod to make yardage adjustments on the fly. Trophy ridge makes some super nice sights... and at a reasonable price. The 0.19 is what I like, but that is just personal preference. Good shooting to you. :)

The mantis v drive is very expensive and probably one of the worst designs I've ever seen.I went through two sights and one sight head before I finally gave up on it and sent it back for good.TR customer service was very good but the sight was terrible. It was heavy and the yardage marking were hard to see because they put them on the side of the sight instead of the back. The worst thing about it was the noise.I would never keep something that loud on my bow.Remember I went through two sights and an extra sight head so this isn't an isolated incident.Do a search on them. The results have not been positive.

just go with the cheep walmart one and get a $15 replaceable center. it should last you quite a while and for maximum life you might want to consider the block, shoot it 5000 times without a passthrough can use broadheads on it too. that runs about $110

DON'T go cheap with your accessories. You wouldn't spend a grand on a rifle and put 30 dollar scope on it would you? personally I have the micro matrix and love the vertical pins. I also like the .19, they still pick of plenty of light and it helps me focus on a smaller area.

RE: Trophy Ridge Fixed Pin versus Pendulum Sight
I have the TR guide series on my xTec and have been very happy with it. Last year I started using the TR and I will not go back to horizontal sites.
