What the heck am I doing wrong

I'm really mad right now. I just spent about 8 hours refletching my arrows. I noticed all of the vanes were pulling off. I used the fletch-tite platnium glue on m ygold tip shafts. I use the bohning fletch-tite vanes. What should I do?

Did you clean the shafts and vanes first? Some vanes need to be scrubbed good. I use denatured alcohol.

Zak.

Did you lightly sand the shafts before fletching?

I had trouble with Fletch Tite glue not holding so I went to Beyond Bond and have not had a vane fly off since.

I had the same problem with fletch-tite/bond. I switched to flex bond which is like $3 a tube and have had arrows pass through a target 50 times and still not come off.

Gorilla Glue brand any good?

The regular gorilla glue is super strong. I wouldn't use it for fletching arrows, as it takes 24hours to setup. But there may be a gorilla glue fletching glue that i'm not aware of.

Yes Zak! I'm agreeing with Ausie Guy ,the shafts need a little roughing up in order to bond to .

I buy my shafts pre fletched from the factory. Never had a problem and I have a choice of how they are put on, straight, offset, helical.

I haven't ever used the bohning platinum glue, so no comment about it. I've always used one of the various superglue gels for putting vanes on carbon arrows. I put a bead on the vane, smooth it out into even coverage with a toothpick, slap it on the shaft and apply pressure for 15 seconds. Pull the clamp off and move to the next one.

Of course, I prefer to fletch with feathers and fletching tape.[&:]

Ditto on the carbon method for vanes with an activated base, but I use a conventional glue made only for carbons when attaching feathers.

I use Martin fletching glue. It bondsin 2 minutes ! I can shoot the shaft 15 minutes after applying my feathers.

Clean the shaft and the vanes mating surface, not just the shaft.

I use an Arizona EZ-fletch tool, and can fletch a dozen arrows in about 30 minutes.
