Last 2 Months Of Photos Of A Huge Typical 12 Point Public Land Buck!!

Well this story all started last season when my hunting partner shot a nice 10 pointer here in West Virginia in one of the 4 bow hunting only counties. While tracking this deer we found some monster buck sign in the middle of a huge pine thicket. We tried to get some trail cam pictures of the deer that left the sign last December but to no avail. We jumped the deer 2 twice but never got a good look at him. We could only tell that he was definately P&Y class.

So this year around the first of June we decided to put our trail cams back out in this thicket to see if the buck was still around. We weren't sure if he was still around due to this area being heavily hunted public land and poaching is a real problem in this area. Well to our surprise the first roll of film that we developed from our trail cams were almost all of this huge typical 12 pointer. This buck is for sure not shy of the trail cams. In 8 weeks we have over 100 trail cam photos of this deer. We have started to really pattern this buck in his core area. 2 weeks ago while checking out trail cams we spotted this buck. The photos really don't do him justice. He is at least 26" to 30" wide and well over 200#'s. He is a true monster!!

I know this deer is not fully grown but anyone care to guess what this deer would score?

This picture was taken during the first part of June and was the first picture we got of him.

This picture was taken on July 9th.

This was the last picture that we have of him and it was taken during the last couple days of July.

Very cool to see the progression of Antlers through a month or so. Beautifull. He doesn't look mature yet either....I wouldn't let him walk though. Not on public land.

I'm a big buck fan and there's no way i'd let him walk, even on private land. A big typical 6x6 with width, tine length and unreal brows like that guy....no way. The only weekness on that buck is he doesn't have a ton of mass, but thats it. He'll look awesome out of the velvet, still some growin to do yet, can't wait to see his height when its all over so you better nail him.;)

Great work, you have a good start on getting a shot at him.I know of one B&C buck that was running between private and public hunting. In my area some of the best bucks are taken on public ground. The private land gets hunted harder than the public.Good luck.

Hankfan...I have a farm in Braxton county, in the middle of the state. That's a freakin hog. Those bow only counties never cease to amaze me.

We have killed some nice bucks...but only 2 in 30+ years that are in that class. A guy killed one on us about 7-8 years ago that was 161.

I have no guess on that one's score...but he'll make WV Big Buck for sure.

Good luck!
