Considering new bow
Hey I am trading my Hoyt Viper XT 2000 and getting on of the following. I am sure that I will have to visit several archery stores to test fire all of them.
Just wanted opinions 1)PSE Firestorm 2)Mathews SQ2 or Ultra 2 3)Bowtech Mighty Mite or Patriot 4)Parker Ultralight 31in 5)Buckmaster G2 Let me know what youll think |
RE: Considering new bow
I have never shot the Firestorm...but I have the SQ2 and Ultra2. I have also seen an earlier version of the Mighty Mite, UL31, G2 and just recently the Patriot.
Any of the bows will be more than suit your needs. The only one I would be a little leary of is the Ultra2 because of the low brace height....but if you are shooting a Viper now I don't see it as much of an issue...<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> What are you looking for in a bow? Speed? Accuracy? Forgiveness? Light weight? Stability? etc..... |
RE: Considering new bow
I currently shoot the SQ2 and it is one sweeeeeet shootin bow. Very quiet, no recoil, and fast yeet tame-able. At first i loved it, then i heted it, then i loived it agian, then i hated it, and now i love it. But all those love hate periods happened over a two week period. If you have a problem of tourquing the handle, its not for you.
I talked to the pro shiop owner and he said the ultra 2 is a nice bow, but like PA said, the low brac hieght makes it tough. A friend of mine had a firestorm and the thing blew up on him, dont know if it was jus that bow or what. I dont know about any of the others. But as you probably figured out, i love the SQ2. Good luck shoippin |
RE: Considering new bow
I find that most bows are designed for a specific task, ie. hunting, spot shooting, 3D, treestand hunting, etc. Also, some people are very particular in what is important to them, ie. speed, forgiveness, manuverability, quietness, strong, pretty, etc. What is it that you like and what do you want to use it for?

RE: Considering new bow
I own an Ultra Max which is the Ultra 2 without the dampers. I can tell you it is probably the easiest "speed bow" out there to shoot. If your form will allow you to shoot a sub 6.5" BH, this bow will not let you down as far as performance and shootability.
