New Food Plot Theory
 

Here is my new theory.

I believe there is enough food plot items high in protein. So I am looking at other options to include.

Since the Antlers and bodies of Caribou, Moose are so much larger than whitetails. (They have to have bigger bodies to survive the type of climate.) To produce large bodies and large antlers in a short amount of time, they still have to have food intake that will produce these effects.

Few things too look at for food in Caribou is as follows.

Calcium rich-tundra has less moss and shrubs, but a larger variety of plants--twice the number of plants per square hundred meters than acidic tundra. With more plant variety comes a dramatic increase in nutrients, and the animals seem to notice

Musk oxen feed primarily in areas with calcium-rich tundra. Barren-ground grizzlies come out of hibernation and gorge on the calcium-rich tundra plants. All three of Alaska's major caribou herds spend much of their time foraging and calving on tundra of the calcium-rich variety. The minerals they get from the tundra may help develop their bones, antlers, and milk

These are the Calcium rich plants in the kale family (broccoli, bok choy, cabbage, mustard, and turnip greens) contain calcuim that is as bioavailable as that in milk.

Also these are Calcium rich plants Collards, mustard greens, dandelions, swiss chard, green beans, beef greens.

Calcium - Antler production and mineralization, milk production, bone formation, muscle contraction, hormone secretion.

Deficiencies - Hormonal irregularities, decrease milk supply stunted antler growth, weak bone structure and antlers.

Simply bigger the bone bigger the more it will carry. Caribou, Moose, Griz.

In the case of the first two and a whitetail is the bone continues on out the head.

Bigger the doe the bigger the fawn can be.

Interesting. So, this should definatly be planted before antler production, and then have something also planted for fall and winter, or will this stay year round?
