Well my very first time bowhunting, yes, the FIRST time ever trying to shoot a live animal with a bow was unbelievable! There i am walking into the woods not even at my stand yet and i have this new grunt call that i had never even tried hanging around my neck and i decide i'd give it a blow.I grunt once kinda quiet and thought hey that sounds pretty good:).i can see my stand on the ridge up ahead and notice the bushes moving a little, then walking straight at me 50-60 yards away coming down the side of the hill is a BIG buck followed by a VERY BIG buck!i'm taken by surprise and they are both walking fairly fast right at me and i'm frozen in place by sooo many things rushing through my head i think it was too much for me as i just stood there unable to make a decision to do anything. The two bucks turn off the trail about 30 yards ahead of me still in sight and they start thrashing around on some smaller brush--now i start getting an arrow ready,i get one out of the quiver and go to put it on the string, look up and there is the bigger buck standing broadside at 25 yards staring right at me and i'm trying to get my bow up to shoot--he bolts and is long gone!I feel like i could be having a heart attack and then remember the other nice buck and he's making his way out to the wide open trail in front of me where the first buck took off. He's getting close and i draw back then he stops behind a tree about 3 feet short of where i need him to be,and he doesn't move for a 30 seconds and i'm near certifiable at this point, then he steps out stops and looks right at me ,i shoot and my entire body jumps forward when i release.I see the arrow shoot low and just in front of his back leg and he's gone[:@]--this was at 7:30 in the morning on my very first day of bowhunting! After that i was ready for a nap and felt just plain weak and tired.

The first shot I ever took at a doe was pretty bad. Nice clean 20 yard broadside shot. Deer takes one look at me and then goes back to feeding, so I nock an arrow under the peep sight, fortunately I realize what I did before pulling back. Fix the problem, pull back, but for some reason can't seem to get a clear sight picture. Deer starts to run and I panic and somehow aim at space at least 10 feet or so behind her then let the arrow fly. She was probably halfway to Wyoming before I quit shaking. My friend who was hunting with me told me that my knees were knocking together so hard that he could just about hear the bones hitting each other. Of course, he was so excited that he was breathing like he had just run a marathon. He is a rifle hunter and had never been so close to a deer before. I like the rush, but sort of dread it too because I don't want to make a bad shot. Maybe this will finally be the year I bring home my first deer!
