Texas Javelina Help

I have a buddy coming to hunt javelina in november. I've never hunted them in Texas and need some help. We don't really want a guided hunt but would prefer public land or a place where they just turn ya loose. Thanks for helping.

I would suggest the Junco Ranch, a 47K acre spread located between Freer & Encinal in Webb County. But I don't know how they handle hog & javelina hunting in the fall, as it might interfere with their deer leases.

FWIW, they charge $125 a day for hunting. They pretty much point you towards a big plot of land and leave you alone.

The best way to go its to bait them. Use a some corn and some apples and you will be all set. Try to look for places near rivers or heavy brushes.

About your set up, they aren't really a tought animal, so you can use what ever you use for deer.

They have a good sense of smell but a really poor visión.

Good luck....
