QuikSpins and FOC

Well I love the way my arrows are shooting with the quikspins and field points. I have decided on using the NAP Crossfire heads this year. Well I just shot them and YUK! I could actually see the arrow fall at 20 yards. I put the crossfire on an arrow with feathers and it flew perfect. Anything I can do to get the FOC up with the quikspins? Is this even the problem?

My setup is Goldtip Pro 5575 28.25 inches. I have the xTec pulling about 62 lbs at 29 inch draw. The FOC with feathers is about 11 and the FOC with the quikspins is about 8. I weighed the quikspins and feathers on a hornady powder scale. 3 quikspins are 37 gr. and 3 feathers are 9gr. Quite a difference. I know I could switch to a 125 head but the crossfire is only a 100. Maybe I will have to give up the quikspins.

Just looking for ideas to keep quikspins and crossfire. Thanks for the help.

RE: QuikSpins and FOC

Good Question!

If you can get good arrow flight, say out to 40 yds or so with Fixed heads, why change?? I have not tried the quickspins, but my guess is that due to increased weights and drag your arrows are going to lose speed and energy much quicker than say a straight fletch setup. For me, I want the flattest trajectory possible so that for hunting purposes exact yardage estimation is less critical. I shoot a 73 lb. 29" draw Hoyt Ultratec, acc 3-60's with 100 gr. thunderheads, and 4" straight vanes. With proper tuning I can use 1 pin out to 30 yards with tight groups all the way to 50 yards like darts. If I can get that, so can you, and if you can, why would you want to slow the whole operation down with heavy spiralling veins?
BTW, I like what I see in the Crossfire also. Good luck with the veins!
