Ground Blind
I've been considering using a ground blind this year. I hate to say this but I have a fear of heights which makes tree stands out of the question. I recently found that wal-mart is selling Ameristep Doghouse and Brickhouse blinds rather inexpensively. Has anyone used these before and are they condusive to bow hunting? Does the shoot through mesh membrain affect arrow flight significantly? Does the sent lock system on these really work? In other words is it worth the $80 - $130 v. sitting behind a natural blind or brush cover?
Sorry so many questions. ![]() |

RE: Ground Blind
I have the doghouse and love it!!!! it setts up easy and its fairly cheep:D
I haven't deer hunted with it yet just turkey. I think it will be awsome. I just take some extra branches with leaves on them and conceal it alittle more. Plenty of room for bow. I had my grandfather in the blind with me and i could still draw the bow comfortably!!! |
RE: Ground Blind
Oh its alittle heavy in the backpack but i put 3 decoys as well as my bow in it as well. I just stick the bottom of the bow in and let the arrows in the quiver hang out;)

RE: Ground Blind
Ive been thinking about getting a blind so I can take the kids along. The blind will help conceal their movement, now if I can just get them to quit talking.

RE: Ground Blind
You don't have to buy anything. Use what is there. Find a big tree, and stack limbs around it to sit behind. I have done alot of hunting on the gound, and I look for a big tree to sit against, and then I put up my portable rolled up camo skirt on metal stakes around me. Killed 2 of my 4 deer last year on the ground. P.S> Scentblock works especially if you hunt on the ground.
