My PSE bow (remember this style)?

Hey there...

I was finishing up a roll of film in my 35mm camera, and decided to take a photo of my bow, quiver/arrows, and release. What do you think of this simple, common, older style of bow?

PSE Edge 1000C lefty compound bow. 65# draw weight, 30" draw length.
TM Hunter lefty arrow rest.
Shurz-a-peep, peep sight.
Tru-Glo 3 pin sights (20,30,40). Flipped upside-down/backwards for lefty.
PSE mongoose quiver.
A few Easton XX-75 GameGetterII arrows in #2315.
Tru-Fire magnum wrist release.

The image below shows my lefty bow (everything's on the wrong side)! [8D]

Anyway, what is your opinion on this bow. I like it and am comfortable with it. I can stick the bullseye at 30 yards with no problem. At 40 yards, I am shakey, but can hit the bullseye. At 20 yards, I've ruined the nock's and fletchings on arrows, because I hit them with another arrow.

I see all the new bows on the market, and I don't know.... I still like the simple style, everyday, dime-a-dozen, types of bows.

Thats a good bow. If you shoot it good why change?

I don't want to change (....yet). I just see all the new latest, greatest, bows on the market and see how radically advanced they are compared to mine.

But then, I could probably drive my truck over my bow, pick it up, dust it off, and it will still fire dead straight and true. :) There's something about a heavy, old, 41" ATA dual cam bow.

Wait .... what do you mean REMEMBER. That's my back up bow..almost. Mine came before yours, it's an SR 1000. I always have a half dozen broadheads tuned for it. Mine is set at 76 pounds. When I travel I generally haul it along. I shoot it a few times during the year to make sure everything is still in tune. You need to change that release.[&:] I have 125 heads with 2314s.

My release? What's wrong with the Tru-Fire Magnum roller style release? It's simple to use and easily clips on the bow string. It has a built in swivel so I don't torque the bow string. What other release is out there that clips on the string that would be better?

Looks like my dad's old Martin Prowler we just sold. Was a good bow, but he was in need of a change. Thing had to weigh 8lbs with everything on it. Was a pain in the butt for him to carry around hunting all the time.

Sounds about as heavy as mine. I have a bow sling that I use when I hike into the woods with it.

Butch,
That pic brings back very fond memories of my thunderflight express that I retired this spring. I shot the bow for 10 years and bought a new PSE in March. I gave the thunderflight to my farther and he'll be hunting with it this fall. The older PSE bows have really stood the test of time and have earned my loyalty.

LOL!!! Yeah, but one thing I can say (as that infamous photo proves) DavidMil can take a dump in the woods, without spooking deer! [8D]

I have that EXACT bow hanging in my basement. It's even a lefty model. LOL :D

It's my bro-in-law's bow. It's older, but it is a nice bow, and it has killed many a deer. I know one thing...it might not be a speed demon, but it's accurate and deadly quiet.

As long as your happy with your setup....that's all that matters! Don't fix it if it ain't broke! [8D]

You're kidding!?! Wow.... Now I have to run home and check my closet to see if my bow is still in there! Ha ha ha ha.... {just kidding} [8D]

Yup... I think my bow speed is roughly 250 fps (I think it was ArthurP who posted a hyperlink to a bow site that had formulas and calculations). A heavy old dual cam 41" ATA bow at 65#, shooting 30.5" aluminum #2315's with 125gt tips computed out to around +/- 250 fps arrow speed).

I agree... It's a classic bow that just seems to fit me right. I am confident with it and deadly accurate, and that is the most important factor, IMHO.

Looks just like the bow I retired in '02.

Closer to real archery that one was!

Its hard to beat an older long axle to axle bow with small wheels for accuracy. Makes me wish i still had my 41" Martin firecat, it would shoot circles around my single cam PSE. I will have to take a pic of my first bow someday. It was one of those old Bear Whitetail hunters, with the metal brachest mounted on the backside of the limb pockets. They had the small wheels on them where you adjusted the draw length, via a letter A-D. Cables running all over it back and forth between the adjustment wheels and the cams. Paid 80 dollars for it from my best friends mom who bought a new bow. Oh the memories

My friend has that same bow, that was his first bow, until i gave him one of my bows.....a browning bridger plus. That bow i thought was just too long and heavy it weight as much as a shot-gun 8lbs. My darton wieghs like 3.5, i dont shoot with a quiver attached. But hey if it works for u, go for it.
