Going to get my first bow...but which one?
 

I'm 18years old and would like to go deer hunting for the first time this fall. Problem is in my state (or maybe just my city), you have to be 21 to get an FID. I've no choice but to use a bow, but I like bowhunting and feel it's more fun than hunting with a firearm so I would like to give it a shot. I shoot lefty, which really sucks because there were a few bows I really liked, but they were right-hand only. I think the max I could afford is $400. Thanks.

It can be tough for lefties to find and shoot alot of bows. I suggest you search out various bow shops and ask to shoot their left hand bows. Shop around and shoot as many as possible. You can get a good setup for $400 if you are smart with the cash. Just remember, the assessories can sometimes cost as much or more than the bow.

check cabellas, and bass proshops, they usually have bows around this time already with what you need. i think i saw a PSE nova which was set up and ready to go for $360 keep in mind you wont get the best of teh best accessories with this set up. but thats what your FIRST bow is for just gettting into the sport.

after you get your bow spend upwards of 10 hours a week practicing untill the hunting season opens. what state are you in?
the foi card should be open to anyone over 18!

hey i am a left hander all the way with everything but i taught myself how to shoot bows and rifles right handed..............its not hard just give it a try....good luck.

i recomend that you stay awy from bass pro shops and cabelas go to a pro shop yes i know they charge a little more but since your new to the sport (welcome) they will help you out not to mentioned help you get started and help tune.

by the way i reccomend u get a release aid it will help you become a profecient shooter quicker

Bass pro shop has a sale this week on a PSE Nova Hunter package for $99. 60-70 lb pull, sight, quiver and rest included. I have been shooting the Nova for two years and its a great bow. I don't see any reason to change. But I'm not one who feels I have to have the bigest and badest bow in the county. Just one to get the job done. They are all stright shooters.

I'm righty on most things, such as writing and throwing, but everything else I'm lefty, and that includes fishing and shooting. I'm left eye dominant, and I cannot close my left eye and keep my right eye open. I can only close my right and keep my left open.

Theres nothing wrong with ordering a bow from a catalog such as cabelas, they have great deals. You just need to know your draw length. If your gonna have a shop set it up after you buy it they will charge you because you didnt purchase from them, but so what pay them. Or buy one set up from cabelas and read everything you can about tuning a bow. I bet within weeks you'll be right there where you need to be. I like the Buckmaser G2 they have at Cabelas, 500 bucks fully rigged. I would reccomend that one. I shoot a very similar bow, Fred Bear TRX 32. look around at used also, check out the pawn shops, and dont give them what there asking they should work a better deal with you.
