Sidewinder 4
I like the Sidewinder 3 broadhead but always wished it had a solid head like the Steelhead. I just saw in my Archery Experts catalog that they have a Sidewinder 4 with a solid head. Has anybody had any experience with this head? It weighs 103 grains but I shoot 100 grain field tips, will this affect the impact point at all? They're on sale in the catalog for $13.99. Thanks for your responses.

RE: Sidewinder 4
You won't be able to tell the difference in impact of three grains difference.
The one exception would be if your bordering on a spine issue with your shafts, but even then I think three grains difference would be hard to tell. |
RE: Sidewinder 4
Actually that head is not a solid head but has the pathfinder point. The thing I don't like about that head is the thickness of the blades which may seem counter intuitive but when you go to that much cutting diameter I would prefer a blace that would be thinner and would tend to bend when encountering heavy bone. And in that regard I would prefer the miniblaster 3L with the pathfinder point. A little more expensive but a configuration that I think would perform better on the not so perfect hits.
That is a great price though. |
RE: Sidewinder 4
Thanks guys. On the spine issue, I just lower my poundage down to 67 from 70. So if I do find a problem with to stiff an arrow, I can add a couple of lbs. The picture it shows in the catalog has a Pathfinder tip, but it is one solid piece unlike the Sidewinder 3 with a screw in tip. Thanks again. I think, I'll give it a try this summer and see how they impact compared to my Sidewinder 3's and Steelhead's.
