Default Trail timers

There seems to be lots of interest centered around game cams. I admitt I'm caught up it in as well. I think it's a great scouting tool and I love the pics. But as some post have suggested the flash may have an effect on mature animals and "tip off the weary". I am thinking of picking up a trail timer which has no cam or flash, just an infared sensor that time and date catalogs each event. It won't show what's in the aera but it should movement patters without spooking deer. Also it is smaller and without a flash I feel better leaving it on the property lines as I don't think it will attract as much attention as a cam with a flash.

I'm curious if anyone has used trail timers in the past and with what results. I think this will be a great scouting tool but would like some feedback before I spend the loot.

I had one about 10years ago and it was a piece of junk.

I have a digital scouting camera. I never put it where I KNOW a big buck is living. Not so much b/c of the flash, but b/c of the human intrusion.

I typically put mine out along main travel routes, fields, water, etc. I just like looking at the pics and hopefully finding a new area to hunt.
