I had it as well, but I found a quick fix that works as long as I remember to do it. I only shoot 1 maybe 2 arrows per round as opposed to the typical 3. I find I concentrate more, I'm not fatigued and my body is not trying to recover and compensate from the first 2 shots. It has helped me considerably. Hope you break out of the rut soon. JDinAB

He's right! You cheat.....you loose!

Good writing Dave!

You'll see that alot of what Dave said is on the link I posted above. Only difference being the guys steps take a longer stride. He says it takes about 3000 shots to develop a good muscle memory. Throw in the 2000 or so bad releases and your up to 5000. No band-aids or pills!

Another point: Once you start this prosess don't think of throwing the sight on for a 3D shoot on the weekends! Not till your all better;)

I've only been shooting for a little over a year, but I've gone thru this problem too. I finally fixed it by imagining that my bag target was a huge buck. Then I'd tell myself that if I did not get that pin in that sweet spot behind the shoulder,...I would miss him. It was a little difficult but it helped once I could REALLY imagine that big buck standing broadside just giving me that perfect opportunity. It made me think that I was actually hunting and not just practicing and trying to overcome a mental block. Like others have said, it's ALL in your mind, so start hunting. Good luck!

Mantis.... I don't know if I could put a shot count on my blind shots. I do know I shot in the garage with my eyes closed nearly every night for 2 months. Say 50 arrows a night is like 1,500 a month or 3,000 in two months. On weekends I may have pulled back more. Let down a zillion times in the beginning. That 3000 is probably not far from right.

I don't know about finger shooters, but if you shoot a release there's something you should try from Golden Key. It's a release called "The Answer". As you might have guessed, it gets its name because it is meant to be the Answer to TP. I tried most of everything you have seen on this thread but nothing really worked. I just couldn't seem to shake it. This was over the course of 15 years or so!! The bandaid for me was this release. I found out about it a few years ago . It works by inertia. If you punch the trigger it hangs up and will not release. This short circuits the whole "muscle memory" reflex punching thing and within a few shots your brain stops trying the punch manuever because it always turns out to be a dead end road. However, a slow smooth pull will release, unexpectedly. This removes all "anticipation" factors. I can honestly say that within 24 hrs. I went from being the worst shot I knew of to one of the best. It has been a no-fail bandaid for me for a few years now, and two P&Y bucks on my wall would gladly testify to the effectiveness of this release. They are usually about $100.00 , but if I lost mine I would gladly pay another $500.00 if I had to for another one. The cool thing is once I get straightened out I can disengage the no-punch mechanism and shoot like a regular release and I still have just as much control , but I can now punch ON PURPOSE for hunting purposes If I need to. If you were to try one I bet you'd love it.
Feel free to email me if you have any questions.
And no, I don't work for Golden Key, or sell releaes, or anything. I just know how much this release has done for me and I want others to have the success I've had with it.
However, if there are any Golden Key people out there and you would like to slide me a little commission that would be ok I guess.[:-]:D
