Turkeyhunter - most antler development will be finished by the end of the month (depending on where you live). A deer's antlers can grow upwards of 3/4" per day (depending on nutrition, protein, etc.). Antlers are the fastest growing tissue known to man....did you know that?

Here in WV the antlers still have about a month and a half to grow and then the velvet comes off and it's hammer time.;)

I also believe it is mid to late Aug. I don't have a lot of experience with this but just judging from things I have seen. I have watched bucks in late July that had a lot of growing left. I hope to document a few of the bucks on my properties and their growth from now until the end of the summer so I may have more to report on later.

RE: ANTLER GROWTH.....

Usually by the middle of Auguest I notice things start to simmer down on antler growth here. Its amazing to watch a single deer grow from about mid may to August and how fast they pack on the bone. Two years ago, on our property I caught up with a pretty good 4 pt in Spring Gobbler. I then made it a point to watch him all summer till fall and see where it goes. By August, he was a very big 8 with tines in the 12" range and a spread in the 23-24" range. They grow that fast!! Of course this has a lot to do with nutrition and genetics though.
