Decent Price for Mathews Legacy?

Well now, instead of keeping my old, cheap PSE bow I plan to get something that's a little more up to date. I found a used Mathews Legacy today, complete with rest and site for $525. The bow seems to be in excellent condition. Is this a good price?

BTW, I've also gone to Dick's Sporting Goods and looked at the Martin TracerMag, the Hoyt MagnaTec, and the RealTree Fred Bear bow, all of which are about $300 with rest and site included... What do you think? Should I keep looking at the higher end used bows or buy something new? I tried to keep my budget around $300 but now I'm getting the urge to spend a little more and get something decent so that I won't be itching to buy a new one in 2 years.

Any and all comments are welcome. :)

That is a pretty good price for that bow with rest and sites.

And yes you are better off going that route than going through dicks.
1. I have yet to see anyone from Dicks set up a bow correctly.
2. From what I have been told the top end bows brands at dicks are bows put together from the manufacturer with left over parts. I don't know if that is the case but I would not take the chance.

I ran into that same problem, I found a mathews legacy on ebay that fit my measurements. Had everything on, I took a chance on it and bought it. This is without even seing it, just a pic. I ended up getting it for 450. The bow got to my house in perfect condition. It has to be the best buy for me of the year. I baby that thing so much. But if you can get one I say you should, sounds like a deasent price. Probably would want to shoot it first though. I guess I got real lucky mine was perfect, and it didnt hurt that I asked the guy I bought it from about 30 questions about it first. Well good luck which ever way you descide to go.

What kind of sight and rest ? I can get a new Legacy for around 530. If its got a cheap sight and rest I say it's too high.

The site and the rest both looked to be decent quality- I wish I knew what brand they were, but I don't have a clue. I thought about offering the guy $450 so that we can agree somewhere just south of $500.
I'm really torn with this decision. First, I planned to get a little bit of work done on my old (15 year-old) PSE bow. Then, I thought if I'm gonna end up buying a new one next year, why spend the extra money on my old one. Next, I said that I'd spend no more than $300 on a new or slightly used bow. Now I'm up around $500! When's the madness gonna end!?!? My guess would be that it will end when I can make up my friggin' mind! [&:][8D][&:]

The Legacy goes for around $650 - $700 around here. Are they really that cheap in Kentucky?

Here's the scoop... The guy might take $475 for the bow. It is one year old, it has a Scheffer (sp?) rest and a Montana Black Gold site.
Is this a good deal? I might make him a formal offer, I just need a few of you to push me over the edge! :)

Bowfanatic, I guess it depends what part of the country your from. Don't think I would ever dish out 700 bucks. Just had a friend buy a new Outback for 580.
