Brand New Bow
I'm thinking of getting into archery. What is a good price to spend on a compound bow for hunting whitetails?
missed shots are opportunities for future success...NOT! Edited by - LBR on 02/24/2002 11:54:53 |
RE: Brand New Bow
I think you've got the wrong bulletin board. We're all stickbow shooters, i.e. Recurves and Longbows. You need to check out the bowhunting or technical boards.

RE: Brand New Bow
Hi SS, I got a Bear TRX for $400. It's fast, quiet, & shoots well. I don't feel a thing when shooting it. I'm very happy & don't see the need to spend big bucks on a bow. Be sure to go to a pro shop for fitting & set up. Good luck, you'll have a ball as I do!!

I think floxter is the one on the wrong message board.
You can get a good bow for 300.00 400.00, before adding on arrow rest, sight, etc. Draton and Martin are a couple of good ones. Hunting soothes the soul |
RE: Brand New Bow
If you buy new, a PSE or Martin would cost 200 to 300 bucks. Then it will take a couple of hundred for the rest, arrows, release, etc. While this will cost a little more it would be better to get a new bow, fitted to you than to save a little money on a "package" deal! Good luck!

RE: Brand New Bow
I think you can spend as much as $300.00 to $600.00 on a complete set-up.It realy depends on what you want, just a word of caution, cheaper is not always better.I would suggest going to a local shop and SHOP around until you find the bow and set up that YOU like and shoots good for YOU.Sometimes what works for me or someone else isn't what your going to like. Most of all,get a bow that fits you(a good archery shop can help here)and a bow that your going to enjoy shooting, after all, your going to have some serious practicing to do when you get it all set up.I would recomend the Reflex line of bows for price and quility, but what ever you find for yourself thats what everyone wants.Good luck.

RE: Brand New Bow
scent, I was in you shoes a couple months ago. I wanted a new bow so I looked everywhere for the best info , shot everything out their, read everything I could get my hands on, spendt hrs on the internet looking for a deal. finally purchesed a buckmaster G2 for 340.00 off ebay. it was brand new with warrentee it retailes for 499. so I think I got a deal. I love shooting it, it is fast,no noise,no vibration, perfect. I would of got a martin magnun panther they sell for 250.. off ebay and they are great bows with out the price, but this fell in my hands, get what you can afford they are all about the same execpt the price which is relevent on how much most bow companys advertise.. hoyt, mathews, pse, bowtech, they all advertise heavy and the price reflects it thats how the pay for all the advertising
