Have you ever seen a recipe for antlers?
Other sex drive stimulators include deer velvet antler removed from deer and powdered rhino horns. Eating animal parts may seem disgusting to some, but others are willing to try a few recipes for pleasure's sake. The Chinese have been consuming deer velvet antler for 3000years. Look at their population now!!!

I shoot alot of does each season, last year I think I shot 11 of them. Off of the entire place we took 66 last year, and probably take close to the same number again this year. We do this for management purposes.

I don't understand why anyone would bash a hunter who won't shoot a doe. When I'm out, I make the decision of when I shoot and at what. I'm after a mature buck and how could I accomplish that if I give away my position by shooting at any doe that walks by? Then I would have to get down, Trail the doe, Gut it, drag it, Take it to the butcher, .....A lot of distraction when most guys can only get out a few times a season. Oh, and like I said before, I don't care that much for venison anyway! The does I don't shoot get shot by the guys that hunt does. I'm glad that enough people like that sort of thing. They can have my share.

I don't see what most people have said as "bashing" a hunter that won't shoot a doe...........I just think that they are pointing out the selfish act of someone wanting to shoot only big mature bucks for themselves...........but they don't want to do the dirty work necessary to keep those big bucks around for years to come. Managing a deer herd properly requires a lot of effort and when the guys that are out there year after year doing that dirty work see someone that just wants to reap the benefits of everyone elses dedication and not help out themselves............it's not hard to figure out why they get defensive. Maybe THEY don't want to shoot that doe on that day either.....but they do because it NEEDS to be done.
At least that's the way I interpret the "bashing" as you called it from the QDM guys.
I just love venison and my family eats so much of it that we have 2 huge freezers set aside just for the long offseason.........so I have no problem bringing the girls home and introducing them to my grinder
The only QDM I practice is Quality Deer Meat

My very first deer in the freezer each year is whatever offers me a good shot and is large enough to justify it. !st year males are out, but a first year doe that is large for a young one (early drop) is not out of the running. If I don't get a shot at a 1 1/2 yr old doe or a 2 1/2 yr old buck, then I'll wait. On the last day of my season I will take a fairly small doe for the freezer if I haven't been lucky yet.

Atlasman, you tried to counter my statement but only validated it. You said yourself that you love venison and fill your freezer with it year after year. You meat hunters openly state that you love what you are doing and brag about how many does you got last year. Then you go and bash guys like me that don't want to shoot them. If you are putting yourself out by shooting does why do you state how much you love doing it and eating it. I don't bash you for being a game hog, which is what they used to call guys like you. It just happens that the deer herd has grown into something that actually needs guys like you. And like I said before, I am thankful now that there are guys like you around who enjoy shooting does. Why do you call something that you obviously enjoy dirty work? I said before that I would gladly shoot does when it becomes ethical and legal to let them rot in the woods.

Yes, silentassassin, you can make deer taste good, but at what cost and time expense? If you spend the time and money (spices, oils, marinades etc.) you can make deer taste good (mask the flavor).

I've got some recipes that will make the best filet mignon you've ever eaten taste like sh!t.
I, like silentassasin, have never had a piece of gamey tasting deer meat. I think you must be doing something wrong.
And BTW, if you don't eat deer meat, why shoot a deer?
I'm not the type that thinks you must eat every animal you kill, but if you are a deer hunter that never eats the meat, something doesn't sit right with me.
