ASAT Doubting Thomas
I have read a lot about ASAT camo and I would like to order some for this upcoming hunting season but I guess I need some reassurance that it really works! There is so much on the market these days I want to make sure that I'm buying something that is worth the BUCKS! (No pun intended) Comments all?

RE: ASAT Doubting Thomas
I just bought an ASAT 3D Leafy Suit and my wife STILL hasn't seen it, so it must blend in well w/ any environment. All kidding aside, it's really like all other hunting gear. Try it, and if it works for you, great! If you find yourself getting busted, poor quality of the garment, etc., then you know you made a bad choice.
There are an awful lot of folks on this board that swear by it, so it was worth me giving it a shot for the '04/'05 season. The fact that there are several other mfr's out there that have similar patterns made a believer out of me as well. |

Though I have yet to be pulled into the "dark side" of ASAT users I've heard many many good things about the product. From what I've heard, seen, and read over the past couple years it seems that ASAT is second to none. I personally am planning to buy some not this season, but next season to try out. My only doubt is that I live and hunt in Washington and I hunt mostly from pine trees. Though it's said that it blends in with any environment I don't see how a tan/black/brown suit is going to blend in with a sold green tree. I think you'd be making a wise purchase by going with ASAT. |
RE: ASAT Doubting Thomas
I’m thinking of trying it this year as well. The only thing that has me skeptical is the baggy look of their 3D leafy suit. In the pictures the thing looks like it’s bulky and practically hanging off the hunter. Can anyone attest to or deny that theory?
Also those gloves look like something an old lady would be using in the garden! [&:] And they’re one size fits all, which doesn’t really exist. Wish they had better quality garments. |
RE: ASAT Doubting Thomas
I just got mine in the mail the other day. Have yet to use it ion the woods but I have tried it on.
It could seem baggy but there's the upside IMO. The 3D is very lightweight...much more so than the pics would have you believe. The biggest advantage IMO is all I have to do is dress for the weather...camo or not and the ASAT covers it. I live in SE Michogan and hunting weather runs the gamut from 75f to -10 through the season. I need gear that's flexible. The ASAT 3D leafy is perfect beacause I can wear it over jeans and a tshirt in the early season (a bit baggy but not at all in the way...I've been shooting with the suit on) or over my 12lb winter Parka, snow pants and sledding boots and it covers it all. Before I've had different camo's for different weather/terrain etc. and from what I can tell the ASAT is exactly that ALL SEASON ALL TERRAIN. My only doubt is that I live and hunt in Washington and I hunt mostly from pine trees. Though it's said that it blends in with any environment I don't see how a tan/black/brown suit is going to blend in with a sold green tree. |

RE: ASAT Doubting Thomas
I bought the ASAT 3-D leafy suit and tried it this year for turkeys and I was impressed to say the least. Once I had a gobbler walk right up to me as I was standing on a logging road and got to with-in 15 yardsof me !!!!Lucky for him, I had just shot his buddy!!!!
Another time I was walking back to my truck and I saw another hunter coming towards me . I stopped and stood still and he walked past me at about twenty feet.... after he passed me I asked out loud- SEE ANY BIRDS?- He about jumped out of his camo!!!!!! Great stuff .....buy it!!! ![]() |

RE: ASAT Doubting Thomas
I just spent A LOT of money to stock it in my store. If I didn't feel it was worth the money, I'd never have spent that much on it. I only had to test it personally for a few months hunting to realize its value.;)

RE: ASAT Doubting Thomas
ASAT works! It's designed to break up your outline-which it does very effectively. Most other camo's are designed to appeal to the hunter's eye-which it does very effectively. If you want camo that will work in almost every hunting environment-get ASAT.I've seen it in hunting situations and I'm getting myself a set thi year.

RE: ASAT Doubting Thomas
Does ASAT make hunting garments for the colder weather here in canada.Example---fleece or gor-tex or a cold weather material.I am very interested in the stuff myself for the terrain that i hunt in but i havent seen any of it in heavier clothing.I have seen it in light cotton or the 3-D leafy but not heavy enough.I just might check out the 3-D and wear warmer clothes under when the temperature drops:)

RE: ASAT Doubting Thomas
Extreme1,
The Leafy ASAT is great stuff.........I've worn the same suit over a T-Shirt and light camo pants, and later in the season over every last stinkin piece of warm fleece and poly pro I own.![:-]:D It's not only the All Season All Terrain camo.......but the All season garment. |
RE: ASAT Doubting Thomas
Thank you for the reply matt,i was thinking of doing the same thing as well. The suit does come in a small---medium----large size i would imagine.I just wish they would make a good fleece insulated coverall or something in that nature.
I do think it is the ultimate camo, just needs more options on clothing:) |
RE: ASAT Doubting Thomas
Matt,
Why don't you post the link to that thread with you wearing the leafy outfit next to that big doe you shot last year. That was impressive! I think Rob was in it too. |
RE: ASAT Doubting Thomas
Ask and you shall receive.........:)
actually there are 2 generations of ASAT leafy camo here....Rob (on the left) is wearing the 1st generation suit, and the good looking guy has on the newer style.;) And yes it WAS a big cornfed doe. (I'm 6'3" and ohhhhhhh about 250lbs.) |
RE: ASAT Doubting Thomas
Cool pic and one heck of a big doe matt---Congrats----the more i look at the camo the more i want it---lol:)

RE: ASAT Doubting Thomas
What kind of material is the 3d suit made of? can you wear it all day in the fall season when its drizzling all day with rain?
|
RE: ASAT Doubting Thomas
I just wish they would make a good fleece insulated coverall or something in that nature They do have a insulated Buckswede jacket that is toasty warm. Copied from the ASAT web site: We're so confident in our product, we offer you this unparalleled guarantee ..."Wear ASAT® exclusively for one year, and if you don't see more game than you ever have wearing anything else... we'll buy it back . GUARANTEED!" Where in ANY industry would a company offer such a guarantee if their product didn't work? All I can say is buy with confidence. |
RE: ASAT Doubting Thomas
ORIGINAL: Ausie-guy I just wish they would make a good fleece insulated coverall or something in that nature I may just go with the 3D leafy suit this year..I am having a devil of a time finding a good open pattern in insulated clothing that doesn't break the bank. BTW..if you can afford it extreme1, Day One camo has ASAT fleece & saddlecloth in all kinds of styles..insulated..waterproof, etc..too rich for my blood at the moment.. |
RE: ASAT Doubting Thomas

RE: ASAT Doubting Thomas
