50 pound bow
 

i got a 50 pound bow from a flee market is that enoff to kill dear's with ? and if so with i think it is what would you thunk it's max range for a shot that will have good kill shot thanks for your info

Yes, a 50# bow is enough to take a deer with. I know a lady that took a 2000 lb. African Eland (african antelope) with a 46# bow. As for max range, you need to stick within your own personal effective range. The best thing to do is to start practicing and then find out at what range you are placing all of your arrows into the appropriate target. For whitetails that should be in a 6 inch circle. (Approximately) For mulies it should be around 8 inches and for elk you can go from 12 to 16 inches. Make sure that the limbs and cams (or wheels) and string are all in good condition before you start shooting. If you are a first time shooter, I would also recommend that you use an arm guard. [8D] have the bow looked at by someone who knows a little about bows then practice practice practice that should give you an idea about how far you want to shoot and its fun at first its kind of hit or miss untill your body gets used to holding and shooting the bow I hope you enjoy it as much as i do

Definitely make sure it is shootable before you go hunting with it...not to mention practicing with it. Any reputable archery pro shop should be able to do that for you.

50 lbs is more than adequate for deer but I would stick with a moderate to heavy arrow and a cut on impact head to maximize your penetration potential.

Max. shooting distance is basically determined by the shooter though most folks keep shots at 25 yards and under.

You are completely legal in any of the states I hunt in. As with any bow, Shot placement is critical to a lethal hit. I don't care if you shoot a 100lb bow, If the shot placement is poor you will end up with a long and somber tracking job.
