RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?

Just switched to A/C/C's, from Carbon's. I was just dissappointed with the Carbon's, for whatever reason, I'd always have a couple out of a dozen that wouldn't fly right. Maybe the spine was a little different, or maybe they didn't weigh the same. I bought the A/C/C's to straighten this problem out and they have so far, I'll be paper tuning them this weekend, but from what I've seen out of them so far I'm very pleased.

I've been using carbons for 8 years. Well, actually I've been using the same two dozen arrows for 8 years. I bought bemans and have not had to buy any since. I shoot deer with them, wipe them off and put them back in my quiver. I only have two sight pins out to 30 yards. They (carbons) are amazing! I could never imagine shooting those treetrunks(aluminums) again. I do have to refletch my target arrows about every two years though. Every deer that my dad and I have shot was a complete pass through with the carbons. With the aluminum we missed completely alot.

I am new to bowhunting this year. I have had my bow for several years, but never hunted with it. I have been target practicing with Easton xx75 2219 since I bought it. I will hunt with them too. My brother in law says carbon is the only way to go, I disagree.

I got a new sight last weekend and was sighting it in. Missed the targer on the first arrow. Hit my backstop, 3/4" ply wood. Sunk that arrow 5 inches through the other side. This was at 20 yards.:D

Hmmm..."take-down power"? What in fact do you mean? Arrows kill by hemorrhaging...not by shock. But, if you are meaning Kinetic Energy (KE) that would all be determined by your setup. However, in most cases you will have more KE with a carbon than a similarly spined aluminum...better penetration through bone...flatter trajectory...and so on and so on. But if you like aluminums and feel more comfortable with them...then stick with 'em. But be open still to try the newer carbons. Properly set up you should enjoy them.
