Numbering arrows

Hi I was wondering if anyone else numbers their arrows to see what ones shoot good. Or am I the only one who does this.

I do it too. Especially when shooting broadheads. I try to get the best combination of both. Also when tuning I try to plot every arrow I shoot on a piece of paper by number. Then after shooting around 100 arrows I can get a good idea of which arrows are flying the best.

Nope.

I shoot em all and if they don't fly straight I break them in half so I wont shoot them again.

I do number my arrows before I go hunting. I have "Ol #1" and "Lucky #2".....3-6 are just there for looks.

I do as well. It really helps to determine whether or not it is the arrow, some other piece of equipment or you as a shooter that is causing the occasional accuracy problem.

Nope I use different nock colors. Its easy to see without having to look for a number, also easier to remember.

I just started numbering this year. I never realized how different they were. I used to think I just messed up some shots and now I can see that most of the time number 3 hits 1-2 inches to the left or number 7 hits low 9 out of 10 times. Can't wait to start with my new arrows.

Agent Zero M 06-08-2004 10:15 AM

How are you numbering them?

I know, " 1, 2, 3, 4. . . " :D

I mean, are you using a sharpie on the vane, or taping a number to the shaft, or what?

I would suggest a sharpie.

If the arrow is straight and spine is the issue try twisting the nock and then recentering it to how every you shoot(cock feather up,down, out). Sometimes a slight adjustment will change the spine of the arrow and help it to shoot more consistantly.

Always, I write the number on my white vane with a sharpie. Does a few things:

- easy to tell if its the same arrow that won't group with the others.
- when I take the BH off to travel somewhere, its easy to put the same BH back on the same arrow (I mark the inside of the BH box too).

Once you have a "bad" arrow you can refletch, spin the tip, spin the nock, different BH games to try and make it fly with the others.

Hey thanks adams. I am just getting into the arrow building. I will check into that.

Hmmm, so if I want to change the spine of my arrow, all I have to do is twist the nock.:eek::eek:If I twist a 2315 enough, will I get a 2317 out of it???:D:D:D

27 twists will do it........:D

actually it can work quite well. You are not "changing the spine" but you are changing how the "strong side" of the spine is orientated to how it flexes out of the bow.

Hooter shooters are great for this.;)

I have numbered all my hunting and 3D arrows for years. It helps find the arrows that do not group.

RE: Numbering arrows

every dozen of arrows I get get a letter and a number. I shoot all of them and the good ones get put in the bow case and the others get put in the work shop to be refleched and shot again later. This way when I have 36 to 48 arrows I know what ones shoot good and what ones don't. I got my bear with old # A5.
