Spott Hogg Sight Lite.
 

Got the Light from Spott Hogg on Tuesday and all I can say is it lights up my Hogg-it so much it is almost scary.



This is not a very good pic but you get an idea of how it lights up in total darkness.

So if you have a Spott Hogg sight then have a real hard look at the light.

Now all you need is a spot light to see the target. Wow that is bright.

Ausie-Guy! Russell how do I get one for my real deal ,I don't find the spott Hogg near as bright as my Impact Archery Cosmic and have been thinking of putting it back on this fall for hunting.

How did your weeee holiday go any pic's for us?

I stock the Spott Hog Lite for my customers and was demonstrating it the other day. I forgot to turn it off. You guessed it - bye, bye batteries.

That wasn't the bad part. When I went to replace the batteries, they have a non-standard number - something like a #762. I got out the mics and measured the #392s I have for a lot of other lights. There is a very slight height difference, but they work.

Just thought I'd let you know in case #392s are easier to get than the ones that come with the light.;)

The Spot Hogg light is pretty cool........and I have 2 Spot Hogg sights that would just probably love wearing one, but I have a serious question:

What exactly do you guys do with these lights? I would think they are horrible to hunt with due to the 'Headlight effect'. How do you see anything beyond the pins?

Maybe a single top pin illumination would be helpful in some situations but why on earth do you want to light up your 40 yard pin? If you can't see your pin you sure as heck aren't hitting anything at 40 yards with a row of pin "Halos" in your eyes.

I have seriously never found a situation where I needed additional illumination from my sight. At last light I want a pin that just "Goes out" when the shooting light is gone.
Much easier to see past to the target beyond.

I would think a peep sight alternative would be much more beneficial to low light shooting that a lighted sight.

I agree w/ Matt/PA... when I can no longer see my pins.. I couldn't see a deer well enough to make a good shot anyways. What good is a bright sight pin that's blocking out the target going to help?

I did see a setup at the ATA show that you could adjust the lighting output to your pins.. but I think it was like $100 or so...

Really dont want to talk about the trip but will say a tornado going through 30 minutes before we got there put paid to everything but I did manage to fill the feeders and do some triming until the bar on the chain saw got bent[:@]

Firstly this one is on my 3d BK have you ever been on the course in amongst the trees and you cant see your pins;)

Secondly it will go on my hunting BK for night time hogs which get englightened by the flood light I have on my feeder but my pins dont show up cause it is dark with no moon:eek:[:-]:);):D

As for deer I totally agree if you cant see your pins at dusk you should be up a tree hunting[8D]

Matt:

There are two ways to 'limit' the light output.
1) Put a piece of electrical tape across the face of the light and then put a slit in it to allow just enough light where you feel comfortable.
2) Remove the bulb and 'paint' it with a magic marker. The more layers, the darker, and the more the light is restricted.

In either case you'll have to check your intensity in a very dark room. I have mine just bright enough to illuminate the first two pins when it is totally dark.

Ausie sorry to hear about your bad luck ,hope your wife was o.k. with the trip and is willing to go again.If I lived near you I'd be at your doorstep knocking on your door ,never been hogg hunting but I'd sure go in a hurry.Sound's to me like your luck is as good as mine . By the way this morning I was coming home from work and I was going past my hunting area where I hunt turkey's and that big Tom ran out on the road in front of me and i almost hit him with my truck hahaha.
