RE: How much does your hunting arrow weigh?

I shoot a 1997 Martin Fury 65-80 pound bow, the bow shoots at a honest 248 AMO, 330 plus IBO. To reach that speed (270) it's turned up to max at 80 pounds. I hunt at anywhere between 75-80 pounds, depending on the year. To be honest I realy have a love/hate relationship with my bow. I love the fact that it is fast, (it's still in the top three fastest bows ever made) but I hate how unforgiving and noisie it is. I do want a new bow, maby next year (Mathews). But I will always keep my old Fury, for memory and if I ever draw out on moose in Idaho or hunt Alaska for moose. I don't know my KE off the top of my head, but yes it is high enough to take almost any animal on the planet. In 2001 I had a cow elk at 3-4 yards from me. I shot and the arrow flew over the horrizion after going through the elk, which at that range is no surprise. But anyway she ran out to 65 yards stoped and turned broadside. Now I would never shoot at a healthy animal beyond 40 yards (my limit). But the fact that I had already shot her through the vitals at such a close range, I figured what the heck and took a guess using my 40 yard pin and let fly. That arrow hit her dead square in the chest (about 4" above the first arrow, lucky shot), and stuck in a tree behind her. The broadhead is still buried in the tree. She took about 5 steps and fell dead. I didn't need that second shot at all, because first arrow clipped the top of the heart and both lungs. But it was good knowning, that even at that range my arrow still passed through a elk! The memory of that elk "though just a cow" has a lot of value to me. I can honestly say it's my closest shot and my farthest shot all wrapped up in one animal. Thanks

My current arrows are weighing in right at 430 grains as well...both the Axis and Beman ICS. Normally I end up with an arrow weight between 410-430 grains because of the typical grains per inch ratio of the correctly spined arrow for my setup, point weight, fletching style, etc.....
