Why do bucks
Why do you always see bucks with large patches of hair missing from their backs?

RE: Why do bucks
I have experienced 2 schools of thought on this: 1, it is where their antlers hit their backs then the lean their heads back. 2, Due to their racks and going under fences and such, it is where they "hit" their backs on the wire etc. Seem like good, logical answers to me .... TGK

RE: Why do bucks
I always figured that it was from the big bucks fighting with the other bucks, it would make them look rough and scarred up. I also have thought that huge antlers rub on their backs, along with bigger bodied deer crossing through fences might have a harder time than a smaller bodied deer, causing them to lose some of that hair

RE: Why do bucks
All kind of reasons: sparring, fences, bad shot placement....ect.

RE: Why do bucks
THE DEER I SHOT THIS PAST YEAR HAD HAIR MISSING FROM HIS FACE. THAT DEFINATELY WAS A GOOD SPARRING MATCH GOING ON.:D
