Cabela's Customer Service is UNREAL! Here's an example...

I purchased a Bushnell Yardage Pro Scout in June of 2001. The battery cover was funky right out of the box. It never worked quite right, but well enough to allow the device to function. So I decided to just live with it because I didn't feel like hasseling with returning it. The battery cap finally cracked just recently, rendering the range finder useless. I emailed Cabela's Customer Support to request some instruction on how/where to get it fixed. They told me to send it back to them along with a letter describing the problem. I did exactly that (on 5/5) and received a return package in the mail yesterday (5/12). They sent me a brand new range finder! The new model has a 570 yard range, versus a 370 yard range on the original.

I believe Cabela's is second to none when it comes to valuing customers and keeping them satisfied. I buy products from them with full confidence that they will stand behind everything that they sell. It's a first-class operation, and they have earned my business for the future.

That is definitely one thing that you cannot argue with...their customer service. In my opinion they go above and beyond their responsibility when it comes to the products they sell. I, for one, definitely appreciate their focus.

I'll second that notion! I bought a flintlock muzzleloader kit a couple of years ago. I built the rifle and shot it a bit. The ramrod had a tiny hole in the side of it....I didn't think too much of it as I was new to muzzleloading and didn't think it would matter. I was seating a load when it cracked and broke at that hole. I called up Cabelas and asked if I could purchase a new ramrod...they told me "no need, we'll send one out to you right away." I had my new ramrod in 2 days. I love dealing with Cabelas, the staff is knowledgable and if the person you're talking to doesn't know the answer to your question they'll transfer you to a specialist in that field that does. They have decent prices, but even if they're a little high you can bet they'll stand behind everything they sell and without hassle. If I had a shop anywhere around here that treated their customers like Cabelas does I probably wouldn't know any of this!;)

That's excellent!! I was really hoping you didn't have some horror story to tell because I like Cabela's product. I guess it does help to spend a little more initially knowing that if there is ever anything wrong with the product, they will make it right.

Hey BagginBiggins, tell us how you like the rangefinder? I am thinking about one. Thanks

Well, I feel that overall it is the best range finder for a bowhunter. It is advertised as the smallest laser range finder available. That's the main reason I bought the Scout. I like to carry it in the side pocket of my right pant leg. It fits perfectly, isn't too heavy, and can be retrieved and operated with one hand. The range limits are 10 to 570 yards, which make it suitable for ranging bow targets and longer range gun targets. One limitation is the ability to see the diplay in low light conditions. However, I would rarely intend to shoot at night anyway (aside ffrom a little night 'yote hunting), so to me it's not a big deal. Another limitation is the life of the battery. It take a rather expensive 3V lithium battery which (at least on the original) only lasted 3 weeks or so, if left in. Bushnell offers quite a few models at $150 - $400+ with a range of capabilites. I guess I see this as an investment in something that will last me a long time. Therefore, the cost isn't as important as how it fits the way I use it. I'm going to South Dakota next weekend for some prarie dog shooting, and I'll be taking it along. We'll see how it performs in the open plains on small targets.

i have been ordering from them for years and have never had a problem. example: i ordered a fishing buddie two from them last year, i was not home when it came so UPS stuck it under the front steps. little did he know but that was where my black lab slept. by the time i got to the package it was in a hunded pieces and the unit had been chewed in half. I called cabelas that same day, explained the problem, and when they got done laughing, they told me one was in the mail. how can you beat something like that. :D

There is no way that you can say Cabela's isnt the best. We bought a pair of Binoculars and a range finder there and one of the eye pieces came off and the rangefinder would only work sometimes and they took them back no ???s asked. I live only about 45 min from one and i am very happy. There was a sporttrac Map GPS at Gandermountain for $200 and $150 (i think, I know that Cabelas was about $50 less) at Cabela's. And you have the guarntee from Cabelas. Our house is full of Cabelas products and we never regret it.
