Squirrel: You Da Man!!! Don't listen to all of this "You need to say harvest" and in season and out of season crap. I beleive that people need to lighten up and enjoy life a little more and stop worrying about what other people think. Give the kid his props trust me a chipmunk is hard to hit with a bow.;)

It is also illegal to do that where I live yet I shoot in the back yard all the time. I have talked to the neighbors and they are all ok with it. I also use the house as a backstop. Have yet to miss the target, knock on wood. This in NO WAY makes it right but I would be willing to bet there are others on this forum who do the same thing. If not, then I stand corrected.

I've only harvested one animal ever and that was a chicken that was rased for food much like when we harvest crops for food or feed for animals.

SH91- I kill varmints in my yard all summer. I don't eat them either. It's cool that you skinned him though. Nothing wrong with what you are doing.

Regarding what I do to varmints in my yard....

#1 What's the difference if I kill them with posion, traps or my Jackhammers?
#2 I'm not going to poison them and let the chemicals get into my eco system.
#3 I'm not going to trap them and have my 2.5 year old get his fingers into that.
#4 It's great practice for hunting big game.
#5 They are constantly mocking me!!!!!! LOL

Some of you people kill me. Here is this young dude happy about finally hitting a animal with his bow and all you all can do is climb on your moral high horse and post negative crap about if you don't eat it don't kill it. I guess you all eat the mice that get in your cabinets and everything else that you stomp,smash and hit with a swatter. Give me a break it was just a chipmunk. Keep shootin'em Squirrel.

good job kid! i have yet to harvest a chipmunk. smallest thing i think i have shot is a squirrel. Yea don't listen to the negative comments. i will kill pretty much anything that i can legally kill, doesn't matter if i am going to eat it or not. Instead of skinning my squirrel kills with my bow, i just cut the tails off. You learned the harsh reality of bowhunting, finishing shots or kills. It seems like you handled it fine so if you ever have to finish off a deer or other animal, you could do it without a problem and prevent the animal from suffering. If I was out there with you, i would be shooting chipmunks too so anytime you can legally kill something with your bow, do it. Practice shooting at targets is never the same as shooting at game. i could care less if i lost an arrow shooting at any animal but if i lose one target shooting, i get pissed. CONGRATS:D

o yea one more thing, charlie p, none of my neighbors care. besides we are more than 500 feet apart. yesterday i shot this chipmunk. it was a female. it had a short tail. males have longer tails. i have shot at its mate twice today and missed. o yea just to clarify this, the eat my garden apart in the summer. so if i get rid of them now, i will have ripe and beautiful tomatoes this summer.

The moral "High Horse" that I am going to ride into this thread has nothing to do with whether or not it's legal, if they are considered"vermin", or even eating the little thing.
What strikes me is such disregard for life in general........since when is killing FUNNY? I understand the predator instinct, what drives a boy to shoot at live creatures blah blah blah. I at least see a sense of accomplishment and a feeling of pride and "Trophy", But killing an animal, stomping its head and spinning it's crumpled body on an arrow is FUNNY?

Joe I realize you are a 12 yr old kid, but please think about your actions a bit as you transition into an adult hunter. A respect for all of nature will go a long way to helping you enjoy hunting as recreation.
