Rocket Broadheads...

What do you think of Rocket Broadheads? I have a buddy who keeps talking them up and I wanted to hear some of your opinions before I bought them.

Thanks for your help,

Sidewinders are awesome.

Use the "Search" function and type in Rocket or a particular model of Rocket that you are looking for. I'm sure you'll find lots of information.

Mechanical. I have been skeptical about mechaanical but I have heard some good stories.

That is the broadhead that I use, but I haven't shot many animals with them. Hopefully someone can chime in that has used them a lot and shot many animals with them to tell you for sure.

i only use rocket sidewinders. They are awesome heads. the pentrate great even at longer distances and open a huge hole, leaving a nice blood trail. every animal that i have killed with a bow has been with them including 5 deer and a fox and alot of missed turkeys[:@]. my first buck that i shot with them i spined him and he dropped like a sack of potatoes. I wish i would have gotten the butcher to cut out that verterbrate because it probably looked like the muzzy bad to the bone picture. My buck i shot this year, the arrow entered him and then cut down coming out the other shoulder blade by like 2 inches. would i recommend them, YES! they fly like ur field points(sometimes better for me at longer distances because it seems as though they stabilize the arrow more in flight). i plan on probably using them for moose or caribou sometime in the future.

Their mechanical line is very good. You just have to be careful and pick the head the best matches your specific setup. The "Ultimate steel " line is so so at best. They have made some improvements, but they are still prone to blade loss. The steelheads are their best product in my opinion.

Ditto on 5shot's comments. I have been using the Naildriver, Sidewinder, Hammerhead and Steelhead for the last three seasons and see no reason to change to another expandable or fixed blade head.

What about the price? I have found that they are a little bit more than some others. Are they worth the extra money?

Along with my other problems with Rocket heads - I find many of the ones with the screw in tip do not spin true.

Last night I was setting up my Turkey rig for this weekend and again spun a bunch of Rockets for backups. They wobble like a sunofafish. My other brands spun true.

They kill tons of deer but I still say they can use MUCH improvement in almost all catagories.

They are the Trophy Ridge of broadheads[8D]

Which Rockets are you spinning, or are all of them the same?

RE: Rocket Broadheads...

The solid feruls like the Rockets steelheads spin well. The wolverines,3 blade, 4 blade, and all their two piece heads with screw on tips spin poorly. Add the dull blades - flimsy .027 blade thickness, tiny wimpy retention screws, improper thread lengths - and you have one weak little head that kills tons of deer.

I am usually alone in my dislike of Rocket - but thats O.K.;)

All I can say is 2 inch cutting diameter, Rocket Hammerheads are awesome.
