Opinions on fixed and Expandable broadheads!
I am shooting a Browning Micro Midas 3 with a 24 inch draw, and 40# draw weight. i am going to use Fixed 3 blade broadheads from NAP thunderheads. Does anybody kno about any expandables my bow would be able to shoot? i kno that most expandables would rob the arrow of energy but are there any expandables that i would be able to shoot?

If I were in your shoes........I'd shoot a RM Tradition broadhead or a Magnus Stinger 2 blade !
However , that was not the question..........look at the new Steelhead XP or RM Ironhead XP !! But I would not use the expandables(meant to include that earilier) !! ;) |

Personally, I would strongly recommend against using any expandable with your particular setup. You just are not producing enough KE with your setup to get them to work properly even on a perfect hit...again, in my opinion. However, as your setup eventually changes I would probably suggest the Rocket Naildriver as being the expandable which, for me, shows the greatest penetration potential for marginal KE setups.

What CBM said , or new steelfource heads , with your setup mecanicals are a nono . scary sharp cut on contact 2 blade heads would be the prefered head .

Rack, I have to agree... Hard to beat a quality 2 blade COC head.

With that setup and considering what I know of broadhead performance I would suggest a quality fixed blade head with a smaller cutting diameter. These are the ones I would look at. Rocky tradition, Wasp boss bullet, American broadheads Sonic, Magnus stinger two blade 100 or 85 grn 4 blade, Muzzy 75 grn. All of these heads have smaller cutting diameters and penetrate very well. Their are a few mechanicals that may work with perfect shots, but I would stick with a good fixed blade head. Thunderheads are excellent and I won't steer you from them, but the heads listed above have proven to penetrate soft tissue better than anything else I have tested. There are also several new heads coming out this year that may work as well but I have not tested them so I can't say for sure.
