At what distance does YOUR accuracy fall apart?
 

I know alot of guys like to or try to keep the group size to about 1" for every 10 yards distance---1"@10,2"@20 and so on.So at what distance do the groups become scattered?I do alright out to 40 yards keeping it around 5" but past that i'm pretty bad--where is everyone else at?

It really depends on the day, but I really try not to pay attention to group size past 30 yards for the most part, I really concentrate on putting my arrow in the kill zone on a 3d target consistantly, mostly due to the fact that i limit myself to 30 yards in hunting situations but shoot farther for 3d shoots.

I am only good to about 35 or so. I won't shoot farther then 25 at deer. I do plan to practice more this year at longer distances and if I get better then maybe I can increase that. I just have never shot over 40.

It all depends on the day and how much I have been praciticing.

Personally, I do not get to practice much lately at distances beyond 30 yards so I would offer that as the distance that I can still remain consistant at.

See, a lot depends on what you are shooting at and what your goal is. I see guys are shooting 3D targets. That's cool, but not the best if you are working on shooting form and or group sizes. Spots are what to shoot when you are doing this. With a 3D target you are not shooting at a spot but an area. I like to shoot NFAA Hunter Faces when doing this. The all black target with the white bullseye just draws the eye, making it easier to aim a something definitive. So, with a 24" face with a 5" bull I can normally shoot 6" groups at 60 yards. There are those days that I get some occasional 3-4" groups, and there are days that it's 12". Depends a lot on how much coffee I sucked up that morning, how well I am seeing, what shoes I have on. Man, there are a lot of variables.

I'm a pretty poor shot compared to this group. On a typical day, if I shot a 20-shot group, it'd measure about 5" at 20 yards, 8" at 30 yards, and 11" at 40 yards. I guess my "accuracy" falls off at about 30 yards, which is my max hunting range. IF the animal is perfectly positioned, IF I have a 100% clear shooting lane, IF I have all the time in the world to execute the shot, and IF the animal is completely unaware of my presence.

35 yrds. I usually practice at 30, or I don't think it would be that good.
