Really nice mounts, PL. They look great! (I would have done the same thing with your more recent mount... glad to see you kept him "as is"!)

nice mounts the eight has a lot of white in him by the looks. have many piebalds in your area .

RE: MY 2003 8-POINTER MOUNT PICS!!!!!!!!!

bob d, it does look like the 8-pointer has alot of white in him in that first picture, but actually in person you don't see any of that false shine, i had my computer light pointed at him when i took the picture that is why it looks kind of shiny in the first pic, if you look at him in the pictures where i am holding him, you don't see that white looking shine. to answer your question, i have never seen a piebald in the wild, but i have seen 3 albinos, one in a state park and 2 white fawns with a doe while driving down the interstate a half hour from where i hunt

Congrats , looks to have a wide inside spread .

portable ladder 05-04-2004 08:06 AM

RE: MY 2003 8-POINTER MOUNT PICS!!!!!!!!!

His spread is 18 inches, does anyone have any rough guesses at what he might have scored, his bases were 4.5 right side and 5 inches on the left side. I roughly scored him around 100", he might have been closer to 110" if he had not broken his tine. I really don't know if I am scoring him correctly, I downloaded some of those sheets from Boone and Crocket, but this guy would be Pope and Young, since he was harvested with a bow. I am assuming the scoring procedures are about the same. Score really isn't a big deal to me, he'll always be a trophy in my eyes.

I'm with you, PL. I have to agree that trophies are best measured by the person who took them. There's a lot more to determining a buck's measurements than a tape measure can ever tell. I was just curious what the tape said. ;) Nice deer, buddy!
