Wife Shooting to??

I know many of you have wives, or girlfriends that hunt with you. I am not luck enough. She watches me practice and will even move my target when I am practicing from the tree stand. I have asked her if she would like to gat a bow and target shot. Did not get a yes, but I did not get a no. Do I have a chance? got any advice?

There's always a chance. My girlfriend wants to start shooting a bow with me. She doesn't want to hunt, but thinks it would be fun to learn to shoot. I'd probably shoot more often too, with a partner. Still looking for a good cheap, beginner set up for her.

Have you taken your wife to the pro shop with you? That's how my wife got the bug to start shooting. One day we were driving home and I stopped in at a shop that carried a variety of archery stuff. While I was talking to one clerk about gloves and a hat, she was with another clerk checking out a good beginners bow. When I finished, she was shooting the bow she had decided to buy.

If she gets a chance to shoot a bow that fits her, she may like it and become your practice partner, if not your hunting partner. Just make it fun.

My wife decided to try shooting 2 years ago when I was spending much of my free time preparing for hunting season. If you look at it like a chance to spend more time with your wife among quality people, you will do just fine and there are no better places to find quality people than 3d shoots at your local range. She will get the fever after a few rounds with friends and you.

Got my wife a custom built Great Northern Critter Gitter longbow & started doing trad shoots together & she loves it.
My kids also got Jerry Hill longbows when they were very young & have enjoyed going to the trad shoots as a family.
My daughter(14 y.o.) has told me that she would like to get her hunting license now & for me to take her hunting.
My wife has no interest in hunting but enjoys shooting 3d.

My wife is a my favorite hunting partner. She is also the 2001 ND State Outdoor 3D Champ. I suggest you get her set up with good quality gear at set up for her at a pro shop (unless you are comfortable setting it up yourself). Shoot with her often and encourage her, but watch so she doesn't tire herself out & develop bad habits. When she gets comfortable, take her to a 3D shoot. Invite her to go bowhunting with you, but don't push it. Most likely she will, and then it's a short step until she wants to give it a go...

I forgot to warn ya. My wife has shot well for a while now. (hoyt intensity) If you do well with her initially she may shoot 3d better than you.
Sucks to be me now!
