I was out this afternoon shooting my new 2004 Patriot Dually. First of all I thought I'd paper tune it at 10yrds I was getting a left tear. as I moved away from the target it disappeared, so I never touched a thing. I thought that maybe the target was a little too close and that the arrow's, after contact were shifting left. Anyway's I had just put the Spott Hogg Real Deal on a couple of week's ago and was finding this sight to be a little tricky setting up, I got my pin's set-up like this 20,25,30,40,and 50
I was grouping quarter size group's at 20, and 25yrd's at 30yrds I was grouping at 2" group's at 40 was 4" group's and at 50yrds I was at about 8" groups . My shooting was fairly consistant but I need lot's more practice to getting my group's tighter .All in all I'm pretty pleased in this new bow and set-up. I installed my arrow quiver and when I was shooting I noticed one heck of a vibration coming from the limb's ,I was almost ready to take the quiver off because there was no way I was going to hunt or shoot this bow with such a noise coming from it.Then I noticed that the allen screw on my mod's had come loose and was about to fall off with the mod . I tightened it up and the vibration and noise was gone Whew!! that was close ,this would have really ticked me off if I had lost the allen screw and mod. I'm just wondering if I could lock tight that screw so that it doesn't come loose again ?I had to tighten the other one as well, but it wasn't too bad. I wouldn't think a little lock tight could hurt anything .
So now all I need is a little practice and I'm ready to go a huntin.

John.....that thing is an accurate little cannon of a bow. The only 3D course I "cleaned" last season was with my Patriot Dually.
by all means Loc-Tite ALL of your screws just use the BLUE loc-tie which is much easier to deal with if you need to adjust something.
I ALWAYS Loc-Tite my mod screws......it's just a bi-product of a modular cam design. Those little screws can come loose so it needs attention on the shooters part. Loc-Tite will pretty much solve it for you though.
Trust me you your covered on losing a screw or mod ;) the biggie is that you don't want to let one rip with a mod screw halfway out because it might not clear the limb fork .......that wouldn't be pretty.[:-]

Thank's Matt ! I wasn't sure if I could use it or not but the vibration and noise coming from it was unreal ,I was about to take the quiver off and toss it in the garbage since I just put it on today,that's why I thought that that was where the noise was coming from.Anyway's problem solved now ,and before I take it out again I'll loc tite it .This bow is for sure the fastest bow I've ever shot and it's just been tearing my black hole target apart.But I just love this bow and can't wait to get out hunting with it.I'm sure glad you and Jeff B talked me into hanging on till we got thing's worked out because it's been well worth it .Thank's again Matt and I look forward to conversing with you again soon.

I had the same thing ahppen with my SC Patriot. Blue Lok Tite will solve the module screw problem. I got a robbin hood with mine just last week. I haven't done that in about 10 years.

Glad to hear that you love the bow! Those groups aren't too shabby either! A little practice and you'll be shooting better than ever!

Now, when you said that you were paper tuning, you said that you started at 10 yards, did you mean 10 feet? Normally, I start about 6 feet from the paper and work my way backwards! I start at 6 feet, then go back to 12 feet, then 18 feet, then 24 feet, and once it is set, I get perfect flight! This has just worked perfect for me, my arrows are like darts! The only movement I see is the arrow raising and then dropping, no side movement and I can't even see the thing spinning!

To tell you the truth BM I wouldn't even be 10ft and i had a 1 inch left tear but as I moved back to 10 yrds it disappeared. what can you tell me about this ? I have also noticed that on occasion I'll notice an arrow with a little bit of a wobble on the back end during flight ,I'm not sure what to make about this .

I had extra pin's and thought I'd set this sight up like this Nub,but I agree this isn't gonna work, so I'll probably set it up for 20,30,40,50,and 60yrds .But actually I could start at 30yrds where this bow is concerned.

Depending on what arrow I was shooting, I don't think I'd have room between my 20 and 30 for a 25. They would all blurr together.[&:]
But mine is the faster "[8D]2003 Bowtech Patriot Dual Cam[8D]".:D

Nub you are just too funny ,I noticed that when I set it up between my 20 and 30 I could pretty much use the same pin but I had so many pin's to work with, I thought I would try it this way but when I was done i noticed that that pin was being wasted .so I'll try a 60yrd instead.

Check you arrows with a arrow spinner. Make sure that they are all spinning nice, as some arrows come with nocks/inserts incorrectly assembled and they don't spin true. Make sure they do, and then start up close again and try again.

Always make sure that you are entirely steady, using perfect form, and just squeeeeze the trigger. Paper tuning can show off any flaws in form.

Now, if you are still getting that tear, do a group tune. Start at 15 yards and use your 15 yard pin. Shoot the highest spot on your target. Shoot it about 3 times, then step back to 25 yards and shooting 3 more shots at the same spot with the same pin. Step back another 10 yards and shoot another 3 shots at the same spot with the same pin.

If everything is correct, your arrows should show up in a straight up and down line! If they are lined up at an angle, that will tell you to adjust the rest accordingly! This is actually a better test than just paper tuning. Remember to do it when you are shooting good though!

Glad to hear you're as happy with your Dually as I am with mine, I had the same problem with my mods and I actually called Bowtech and they told me( like Matt said)to use the blue loc-tite.

nubo, I had the exact same thing happen to my Patriot SC. I just Screwed don and haven't had the problem since. Great bow. I almost bought the dulley. When testing the bows there was only 4 FPS difference between the 2003 Dulley and the 2004 SC shooting my arrows. So I went with the 80% let off.

Are you assuming yours is upper end and the 03's are all lower end? :eek: Whats your weight and arrow speed? :eek:

nubo, I hope thisisn't the case, but from the sound of the tears you are getting, you may be just a tad underspined. If you can, try the next stiffer arrow available and see if the left tear goes away.

Nub I think your taking this the wrong way. I think that he's comparing the high end speed of his 2004 and the low end speed of the 2003 dually which is 4 fps which means nothing.

Not really taking it any way buddy. Just figured that was his way of looking at it.

You never know, he could be low end and me upper! WOW 20 fps![:o];)
