Package deals??
 

Got a step dad that is getting a bow and going to start learning, which i think is great and i am sure he will enjoy it. i have tried to pass on all of my knowladge,and i no he has looked on our forums before just to read about products and thing like that but any way.

He is looking at the packages on huntersfriend.com and has found a couple that we both think would help start him out. has anybody else bought from them, or know anybody that has. it seems like really good people and i am sure he will enjoy his bow. thanks

As a new bow hunter, I believe he would benefit greatly by getting his bow from a knowledgable bow shop, where they can fit him correctly and help tune his bow to perfection. A good shop can also do other things, like matching the arrow to his bow, allowing him to try different accessories, giving him shooting instruction, etc, to get him shooting good, quickly.

I agree that a knowledgable shop is normally the route to go. However, not everyone has a pro shop..or a reputable one...even remotely close to where they live. An online acquaintance of mine purchased from hunter's friend last year and was very satisfied with the package he received.

As a newbie (less than a few weeks with my first bow) I can tell you I really am glad I went to a local pro shop/sporting goods store. They sold me a reasonable package for just under $300. They assured me it was a good bow for a beginner and would be something I could use for at least a few years before I got antsy to get something more fancy. They also told me why, going over all the features and terms used in archery that I never had heard of. They also made me shoot the bow many times at their in-house range so they could keep adjusting it for me. I would say the service involved is the best part. The manager shoots competatively and deer hunts frequently. He's taken several of my calls these past few weeks and told me I could stop in at any time and we'll try to figure out any problems on their range. I'm not sure you could get that level of service over the internet (except for the advice I get here of course). Just my two cents. I shot some arrows again last night. I really love the bow!

Hey Chucker thanks for the advice, it really seems like you have one heck of a pro shop, but unfourtantly me step dad lives in southern california and there is not even a sporting good store with in an ahour and a half drive, not to metion on that sells bows. so i have been trying to help out as much as possible. And the package deal we found really seems to try and do as much for the buyer as possible. thanks for the reply and good luck.
