First Target Practice! -- and a question
Well, I got my Parker Buck Hunter Outfitter package on Friday night and had the pro shop set it up for me and they let me shoot several times and readjusted the bow to where they thought it fit me best. I was pumped to try it out today and did pretty well for my first target practice even. I am excited to bowhunt for the first time this fall. Thanks everyone for the advice in my endeavor. I did have one more question. The first arrow I launched tonight did not go quite perfectly. It slipped out of the rest when I drew back all the way. I believe it was still knocked because it just angled off to the left a little. I tried to slowly ease the cable back to a relaxed position but I somehow let the release aid go and the arrow fired off the left and deep into the ground about 15 feet away. This isn't really a dry fire situation, is it? I figured the arrow would have absorbed most of the pressure and the bow looked fine and I fired several times afterward with good results. As a newbee, I am probably just overly concerned but I do remember the pro shop guy telling me that dry firing is the cardinal sin.
Thanks. Happy Easter to all those that celebrate it. Chucker |
RE: First Target Practice! -- and a question
You didn't dry-fire it. I hope not atleast cause I did the same. As for hunting I skipped the season cause it was my first. Wasn't good enough. Good luck. Happy Easter.

RE: First Target Practice! -- and a question
It sounds like you didnt really dry fire it. However, if your still concerned take it back to your pro-shop and have them give it the once over, better safe than sorry.

Get a Wisker bisket rest before Season starts! Your arrow will never fall off of the rest again.
Good Luck |

I wouldn't consider that a dry fire ,I think most of us have made this error once or twice ourselves . If it's shooting fine don't worry about it .Good luck with your new bow.

Whisker bisquit will eliminate that problem while drawing back on the buck of a lifetime:)

I wouldn't consider that a dry fire either, but you could always get it checked if your worried.
The APA ultimate twister will sove your problem also. Containment like a wisker biscuit, but a drop away.;) |
