Bow making noise
I have a PSE Fire-Flight and when I shoot it makes a twang sound. I believe it is from the sight. It was a cheap sight that came with the bow. Should I get another sight? I don't mind the noise but I don't want a spined deer. I don't want anything fancy or expensive. I certainly don't want anything cheap. The plain 3 pin sights would work well. I will spend about $40. What sights do you recommend.

RE: Bow making noise
First thing you should do is go over all the allan heads and fasteners. Make sure they are all tight. That could cure your problem.
Most cases a twang is actually your bowstring. Try some string leeches or cat wiskers to quiet them down a bit. |
RE: Bow making noise
just be careful about the cat whiskers each one you put on slows your bow down either 2 fps or 5 fps. maybe have your bow looked at and tuned at yoru pro shop

If you spent $50.00 you could go with a Copper John 3-Pin. I love mine. Excellent sight IMO. Well worth the extra $10.00.

RE: Bow making noise
I'd second the Copper John. Very much worth it.

RE: Bow making noise
First thing I would do is remove your sight and shoot the bow to see if the noise is still there.

I believe it is from the sight Those that have suggested checking and retightening fasteners, and removing suspected gear to trace the source of the sound, are spot on. |
RE: Bow making noise
Another thing you can do is get a pack of the Simms Mini-Limb Savers. I think they are around $12.00 for three of them. Put one on your sight, then put one on your arrow rest (if it is large enough to allow for one), and you can put the third one wherever you want it. They will help absorb any vibration, and vibration is what causes noise! I have them on my site and arrow rest, and they seem to work good for me. It isn't a drastic differance for me, but for the PSE sight, it might make a big differance!
