turkey questions

Haven't been turkey hunting for a number of years cause I didn't have a place to go but this year I've found a place to go thats loaded. I've never tried one with a bow and have been told its a trick to get drawn without being busted. Would I be better off to get a portable blind and if so which one would you all sugest.

RE: turkey questions

All I can say is to get a portable blind that has a dark liner inside so that you cast no shadow's on those bright sunny morning's .A portable blind work's great for turkey's but it is very hard without one when hunting with a bow. Any blind should work fine as long as it's dark inside, and you don't have to spend a lot to get a decent one.

I have a double bull T2 and it works great for turkey 52inch shoot thru window, it's almost cheating they never have a chace to see you.

RE: turkey questions

Houdini,
I have taken turkeys both with a blind and without. Without the blind, I generally set up off of a food plot or field at least 5 yards into the shadows or in thickest cover that still allows for several shooting lanes. I position my decoys down one of the shooting lanes (usually not directly in front of me) that will allow me to draw with cover as they cross into a shooting lane. This also keeps the gobbler focused on the decoys and not me. That setup is not always successful as the birds often do not cooperate as you well know, but I have scored twice that way.

A blind makes a huge difference with turkeys. I would recommend the double bull, but others will work. I have the double bull, T2 I think, I know it's not the T5 anyway.[8D]
