RE: WHAT A FIND!(PIC.)
awesome deer, i would love to get one like that on my wall

RE: WHAT A FIND!(PIC.)
The picture is somewhat distorting. I was going to post the score sheet but I think this is getting to be more about score than the find itself.

RE: WHAT A FIND!(PIC.)
This is the only other picture I have of him. The cape that was used came from a 230 lb f.d. deer.

RE: WHAT A FIND!(PIC.)
That is a great find!!! What some people are overlooking is the number of points, how symmetrical the rack is, and spread and main beam length. I don't know if it's in the 160" range or not, but like someone else said, without something for scale, it's deceiving.
That's one of the most symmetrical racks I've seen. |
RE: WHAT A FIND!(PIC.)
alloutdoors,
I can't understand why you think the buck in the picture that you posted will score in the 150's but the buck this thread is about will not. It will outscore the buck you posted the pic of. The buck you posted appears to have 4 on one side and five on the other. You are losing seriuos points by not having a fifth point on the left and then the fourth point on the rightt will not only not score well, but it will be a deduction since there isn't a matching point on the other side. I don't think the buck will go 160s either but it will definetly go high 140s low 150s. JMO |
RE: WHAT A FIND!(PIC.)
My initial guess was 140"
Hmmmmm 25" main beam (known) 16" of mass G1 - 5" G2 - 8" G3 - 10" (known) G4 - 6" Thats 70" folks. Both sides = 140" and the width of 21.5 inches would equal 161.5 " of rack IF that G3 is 10" than yep, I can now see 160" of gross scored antler on that deer. But its still a pickup ;) |
RE: WHAT A FIND!(PIC.)
great deducing stealthy!:D

RE: WHAT A FIND!(PIC.)
That is a great find. Beautiful rack for sure. The repairs to the rack look great. I can't see them at all. Congrats. Do you have a before pic so we can see how the rack looked when it was found before the repairs?
From the pic I would guess it to gross around 145. But pictures can be deciving. Especially if the cape is from a 200 + pound deer. |
RE: WHAT A FIND!(PIC.)
Unfortunately I don't have any before pictures.I can say that none of the tips were chewed, just about three spots on the main beams.Being from Texas, my father wanted that "dark" look on the antlers.
