Waxing string

I bought some string wax today. It was just a hard stick. Will this work for my bowstrings? I am used to the soft kind.

RE: Waxing string

It will work fine. Regardless of what type you use, but especially on the harder waxes, you need to melt it into the string so that each strand is waxed thorougly. You do this with friction, using your fingers, pinch the string between them, and run them up and down the length of the string until all the wax has melted into it.

WARNING TO NEWBIES!!! Do not use anything but the friction of your fingers to melt the wax!! Use of hair dryers or a cigarette lighter will cause problems. I've seen strings start to stretch wildly (enough to see the peep sight spin like a top!) when using too much heat. (I won't say HOW I saw this, but take it from me, you're better off not even trying!!!!) ;)
