I wonder how long we can keep this one going. Don't hunters have great minds when it comes to telling their stories of the almighty jackalope. I know I am sure getting a kick out of them.

Found a couple of good websites for the jackalope, if anyone cares.

Thanks for the laughs today, I needed it!!

The tall boots are not fake, Cabelas are stamped on the heel.

If your lucky enough to draw a tag during the peak rut (Octcember through Maruary), the lopes will be on the move more than other times of the year. Start looking for a good outfitter now, they tend to fill up quickly just before 'lope season starts. Hunts will run from $3000/week for semi-guided, up to $5000/week fully guided.

You might want to go to your local pro shop and ask them about the Lope in heat scent. At my shop they keep it next to the hen in heat scent for turkey hunters. Works great. Keep your eyes open. If they smell it they will be there before you know it.

The key is to get one of those "what's up doc?" calls. You know the kind very similar to the can call, but you have to be careful. They are indeed ferocious and they come in fast. I prefer a frontal shot as they're climbing up the tree to get you. Very important to bring a carrot along as back up in case you don't get the shot off. Just hand them the carrot and say "what's up doc?". Works everytime. I've been spared many a time by doing so.

Sprinkle a generous amount of salt on their tails is a surfire way of taking one.

I was discussing this with some friends and they reminded me about how there are really two different types of 'lopes. There are unique ones along with tame ones.

They told how they stalk each type.
In order to stalk the unique 'lopes, "unique" up on them.

Of course by now you know how to stalk the tame ones.......yep that's right..... the tame way.
