Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
Its been a while since I've been on here but I had to tell you guys the story off my bow getting stolen. I was driving around my block when I looked down my alley and noticed my sons skateboard ramp behind my garage. I knew something was wrong so I went down my alley and noticed his bike and wagon sitting there also. Then I seen a garbage can up against my gate so someone could climb up and unlock the gate. I went into the gate and looked into my garage and seen my bow case open with no bow. Then I crapped on myself I thought I would never see it again. I had just took it out of the car this morning and planned on bringing it into the house later. I ran in and called the police. Then went to my garage to see what else was gone. As I aproached my garage door I was meet by a little 12 year old kid and he had my motorcycle helmet in his hand. I imediatly said were is my FN bow. He said he didnt know but then when I said the police were on there way and if he told me the truth and didnt lie again I wouldn't press charges. He said the bow is over here. He walked right to my other gate and picked it up. He was walking out my front gate with it and when I came out of the house he got scared and dropped it and ran. A small knick in the cam and a small one in the idler wheel besides that it was fine. Problem is he wont tell who the other kids are so I pressed charges I kinda felt bad but he wouldnt tell the truth after I gave him a chance. It was something,to see the case open and think I would never see it again. Then a few minutes later getting it back. His parents arent going to be to happy replacing a cam and idler wheel for a sq2. I thought I would share this with you guys sorry for the spelling its late and I havent had much sleep.

RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
Sorry to hearr about that Renz. A friend of mine had his bow stolen a week before bow season. The only hunting he does is bowhunting. What was wierd is, they took a tv, vcr, and his bow which had to be taken apart and put in the bow case. The saying about all people are good is a load of crap. Sorry, but it is. Anyway, glad you got your bow back. I also shoot and SQ2, there one sweet shootin bow.

RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
You got to try and teach him a lesson now,Letting him go would do more harm then good.Hope is parents cooperate with you and make the kid pay for it .
|
RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
You did right, if you don't press charges, he will think he can always get away with it. Heck he still won't get much as it is, but at least you did your part.
TAKE YOUR KIDS HUNTING AND YOU WON'T BE HUNTING FOR YOUR KIDS |
RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
Glad you got lucky and caught him. Lets hope you find the others too! Don't back down on pressing charges. Too many kids today desperately need to know there are consequences when they do wrong.

RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
Darn right you did the right thing! Even if it was a Mathews...
I would have pressed charges...especially if I was in your situation....There are some things that people do not mess with...a man's wife, a man's bow...... |
RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
PRESS CHARGES!!! I was a juvenile probation officer for 3 years and these little punk arses need serious consequences for their actions! It's a definite "teachable" moment so don't let it pass. It may be the best thing anyone has done for this kid.
|
RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
I'm glad to hear that you were able to catch the theif and retrive your bow. You did the right thing to press charges. He is young enough to learn from the experience.
|
RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
Renz, you gave him a chance to do right by coming clean and telling the truth, and he chose not to,(honor amoung thieves, they say, like there is such a thing). The unfortunate truth is, even though pressing charges, and holding him responsable for his actions and choices is the right thing to do, it may not even make a difference to him. By the sounds of the way he had things stacked up while he was looking for more stuff, this isn't the first job he's ever pulled. Makes you wonder what sort of "education" he gets at home. Anyway, you shouldn't feel bad, you did what needed to be done. Glad you didn't lose your bow. Oh, and PaBowhntr....you forgot dogs...dont nobody mess with my dog neither!!
|
RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
I would have pressed charges as well Renz. Hopefully it will teach him a lesson.
|
RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
Good job Renz. Don't feel bad about pressing charges. Your helping that kid out in the long run.

RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
Slo-bo, don't know about your dog, but if you mess with MY dog, he'll take care of your arse himself. And you won't have much arse left to take care of when he's done.
Glad you caught the little hoodlum, Renz. Even gladder you decided to nail him. |
RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
Glad to hear that you got your bow back and you are definitely doing the right thing by pressing charges. They've got to learn while they're young or they won't learn at all.

RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
I hear ya, Arthur!! !!

renz I am glad you got ya bow back and that you had the little punk charged
if it had of been me he would have also a very sore butt from my boot accidently kicking it |
RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
Renz, Glad to hear you saved your bow. I'm sad to say in my younger days that I was a pretty bad shoplifter. Through time and maturity I outgrew it and deeply regret the things I did. I wish someone would have put me in my place sooner because it would have saved some people a loss of property. You are doing the right thing.

RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed

RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
Update on the thief, The detective who is handling the case happens to be a good friend from high school so I talked to him about it. The kid had been in and out of my garage all day. He had taken my sons bike and been riding it around the nieghborhood and was jumping the ramp in my alley right behind my garage. The kid has already been kicked out of school and is going to a school for troubled kids. I waited to see if I herd from his parents but they never came by or called. Myself I think that is a problem in its self. If that was my boy he would of been at the mans house kissing his butt. The worst thing is I went out this morning to see if anything was missing while looking around I noticed a pile of crap on my patio I thought for a second thinking my dog did it. Said to myself she has never crapped up here. I got closer and it wasnt dog crap it was human. The little piece of garbage crapped on my patio and the worst is I have a rack of paper towels sitting right there and he never even wipped. I know your saying the same thing I did, know way he crapped on my patio. I do some plumbing work so I know what human crap looks like. The crap is still sitting there and he is going to come here and clean it or I am going to charge a very high fee if I have to pick it up. After seeing that sitting there and not getting an apology from his parents I am pressing charges to the fullest. The problem is now I have to go to court to get the money for the cam and wheel and my crap cleaning service. I want to say what the hell is wrong with kids these days but after not hearing from his parents I think the question is what the hell is wrong with parents these days. I didnt mention that I have a 6 foot tall privacy fence around my yard that he had to climb to even see what I have in my yard. The best part of the whole thing is when talking to the detective I told him that I have a dog(LAB) and I let her out in yard all the time. If I had let her out she would of bitten his ass.(she is very protective)He asked do you have your fence posted I said no and he said the parents could of sued me if my dog bit there kid even if he was robbing my garage. I have it posted at evey gate now but I sure thought the was a joke.

RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
renz, if you got your property posted, make sure it doesnt say beware of dog.a lawyer told me if you have these beware signs, you're admitting you have a viscious dog whether he is or not,and you will lose the case!!! just thought id let you in on this bit of info

RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
You did the right thing Renz, if it was me, I would have probablly been the one getting charges pressed against me after beating some sense into the little punk. I may be 18 years old, but that doesn't mean that I am a bad kid. As a matter of fact, I have never been in trouble at school. In all my years, I never got suspended, or even detention. I think the worst thing I got was a verbal repremand from a teacher because I was talking in study hall. Kids like that just TICK ME OFF.
Good Luck This Season: Buck Magnet P.S. Only Chuck Adams can sit at home and see deer so get into the woods. =;^) |
RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
BM, there is a good reason why you never acted the way this kid did, when you were that age!
Your parents, and grandparents showed you right from wrong. They spent some time with you. This young boy would not be pulling this crap if he had parents who cared about him. The best thing for him now is to be charged with these offenses. Hopefully he will learn right from wrong before it is too late! |
RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
Glad to hear you got it back. I would be lost without my new SQ2. I think the only true anti-theft for a bowhunter is to buy a HOYT. Even the kid wouldn't want to steal one of those things!!!!! (haha)

RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
Glad ya caught the punk red-handed. You're right Renz. Sounds like the BIG problem is with the parents. Seems like they don't care. That's sad . Just keep your cool about the situation and I'm sure that justice will be served.
|
RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
that is the one reason we decided not to live in a neighborhood, we bought some acres and are surrounded by woods so if I get robbed and I see them they are dead meat, I have loaded guns in every closet (hidden) and a couple next to the bed. my wife is paranoid about the woods and somebody breaking in, because we have no neighbors and the woods get very dark with lots of noise, (deer,critters,ect...)

RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
Gees Javan... why be paranoid? You got the guns, you got the privacy, put up some motion lights in the woods, turn on the burglar alarm and you're good to go. I don't have the space but do have the guns, lights and top of the line burlar system.

RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
Renz I think someone should go over and Kick the kids parents in the butt. If that was my son who did that I would have dragged him over there and made him appologise to you for what he had done then he would be working his already sore red ass off to pay for what he had done. I think your right the question is what is wrong with parents these days.

RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
Man oh man. So many people in here have the right stuff! It is the Parents that created this kid and his problems! What kind of animal of a human craps on someones patio, steals their stuff etc.?
His parents need to be paying for your loss and for as much as your blood sucking attorney can get from them. I say SCREW THEM HARD for what they are turning loose on the world. By the way, dont shoot anyone in the yard even if you live in the country. You will pay dearly for it. If they come in the house, blast away. I had my truck broken into by a juvenile. It is a misdemeanor. I caught him. Smacked his ass around while I waited for the Police. His parents paid a small fine and that was it. They tried to press charges on me for smacking the kid(15). They lost and paid my atty fees. |
RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
Renz, you did the right thing. Sorry to say that the kid will get a slap on the wrist. His parents will pay for the part and he will not have learned a thing.
|
RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
You did the right thing by getting the cops involved. The parents should be responsable for anything that was damaged, and made to pay for them out of there own pocket! We shouldn't put all the blame on the kid,its the parents also. And as far as the Hoyt thing go's,thats why he threw it down,it said Mathews SLO-LO-CAM instead of HOYT HAHAHAHAHA.
|
RE: Bow Thief Caught Red Handed
It's frustating to have that happen. 3 years ago it happened to me, except I didn't press charges. Ihad free lawn service that summer!
2 brothers stole a campagnolo bycicle out of my yard, and when I found out I hit the roof! The difference between your case and mine? The father came to my house apologizing. |
