Interesting Stealth Cam pics....
 

Most of you know that I had a Stealth game camera stolen a few weeks ago. Well, I did not let that discourage my post-season efforts. I bought another one and have been using it for the last week or so. Here are four of my latest pictures. It just goes to show that there are some honest and respectful bowhunters that continue to frequent my area.....







...and last but not least...some bucks still have their "horns"...:)

After what happened to yours Im afraid to put my new one out
guess Ill have to bite the bullet and try this new one out,we have
guys sneaking in on the levee and riding around our club,Wesvaco
is patroling now so hope it helps!:)

Now thats the way it's supposed to work. Your out wandering around the woods, doing a little scouting. You see that another hunter is already in the area, and so you move on. Too bad you cant find out who that guy is, and give him an atta-boy.

I was thinking the same thing. He looks oddly familiar to me so maybe I will run into him at some point.

You're a brave man to put that thing out there! I'd still be crying over my last one if I had such a piece of equipment stolen. Is that a spiker in the last photo, or just the way the sun's hitting its head?

Nice pic...:). Actually, this cam is an entirely different location from where the last one was stolen. However based on these pics and when I am guessing the last one was stolen, I will not leave the cam out over any future weekends...;)

Even with the pic in front of me I cannot tell if it is a spiker or a really small y-buck. The antler on the left side of the photo is broken off right above the base. The antler on the right side of the photo is thin and, as I mentioned, I am unable to see if it is just a spike or there is another point on there.

The two guys apparently came through later Sunday afternoon after we put the cam up. I say this because there were 3 pics of those two gents and when I went to check the cam on Monday there were 3 pics taken. On Tuesday when I checked there were 4 pics total taken and since you can see the time stamp imprinted at the button right of the buck picture (7:27 am) I am guessing it came through on Tuesday morning.

Well I sure do like your determination--you've got to be one hellofva hunter!! Not sure I would have had to courage to do that again, more so if the area is crown land. And if it isn't-- well it's certainly surprising to see 'honest trespassers'!!
Nevertheless, hats off to the two gentlemen who have shown that they have great morals and would get my vote for the ethical role models.
Definitely an example that can build our "FAITH"!

is this on private property and are you using any theft detterant device. could you use a python lock somehow?

First off, this is on Pennsylvania State game lands...public property. These folks are not trespassers but rather just some guys who are out scouting during the off season.

I have not put any theft deterrent device on the camera for two reasons. One, if you knew some of the folks I run into where I hunt then you would understand that if they cannot get it off the tree then they are likely to damage it. Two, if you know some of the folks I run into where I hunt then you would understand that they probably carry bolt cutters and any other device necessary to remove items from trees....;)

Ya got me. One area my knowledge base is severly lacking is in flora and fauna. I have a severe lack of knowledge when it comes to different plant types. I would guess that to be one of the reasons I am only an "average hunter".

If anyone could help in regard to Rack's question then I would appreciate it.

This is just the inexpensive MC2-G Stealth Cam. You know the one that everyone was buying at Walmart for $69 last summer. I have mixed feelings about its performance. On one hand it does produce some nice pics and is really easy to set up. However, on more than one model I have had problems with the film loading and rewinding procedures. If it happens with this one (my third) then I am going to call Stealth directly to see what they say I can do.

Yes, that is a buck. It is a bit easier to see on the original. The pic appears to have faded a bit when I had it scanned. Sorry.

The deer shot looks like it was taken in the morning with the sun low off to the S/E, while the ones with the guys looks more like afternoon within an hour or so of each other, with the sun in the S/W.

Seriously, there is a canopy about 8-9 feet off the ground. That is what you are seeing with those small "bushes" on either side of the trail. Then you have the high level canopy of those long, tall trees in the background. Most of the large trees are conducive to climbers while the lower "brush" level conceals treestands from approaching deer....at least from their angle...:). Most of the area I hunt are like this.
