100% or 50% hunter
I'm a 100%,365 day bowhunter that eat, sleep, and love hunting. Are you the same?Or are you a 50%/a seasonal hunter.meaning that you get the urge 2 or 3 months before the upcoming season.Either way isn't it a wondreful feeling, knowing you'll get to eat what you harvest and knowing that his spirit will be inside of you for eternity.Thank the GOD for what HE gave us.GOD,I'm sounding like The "NUGE".maybe we all should feel the same way. Then let the ANTI'S come after us.

RE: 100% or 50% hunter

RE: 100% or 50% hunter
A wise ol' man once told me;
"No matter how much time we spend on hunting, we are still, at best, PART-time predators. The animals are FULL-time survivors." This little bit of info comes in handy on the days nothing goes right. And we have all seen em' before! |
RE: 100% or 50% hunter
I spend just about 100% of my free time shooting, scouting, or getting ready for deer season. The only problem is I do have to work, and then take care of all the little things around the house. If not for those I would probably live in the woods and bow shops.

RE: 100% or 50% hunter
I don't think I can put a percentage on it. I bowhunt year round, practice for bowhunting year round, I type and read about bowhunting or am making equipment when I'm not bowhunting. The wife says I eat, sleep and breath bowhunting and she's right, bowhunting for me is a lifestyle, not a pasttime and it will never be a sport. However, even though my spirituality and my family are intertwined with and included in bowhunting, they will always be placed first and foremost in my life.

RE: 100% or 50% hunter
Not any more than say a 75% deer hunter. I sleep about 6 hours a night(25% of the 24 hour day) and don't dream about them. My wife keeps telling me I'm always saying something about guns and deer in my sleep. I tell her the deer she hears me talking about is DEAR meaning her. The guns are to keep the competition away.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> So... I'm a 75 percenter.

RE: 100% or 50% hunter
Jennings used to have a magazine add of a guy sitting on his garage launching arrows at a 3D deer and it read... "Some call it obsessive compulsive,..... We call it BOWHUNTING",man that is my LIFE!!!

RE: 100% or 50% hunter
Hard to say...Maybe a 25%? I have four true loves. Bowhunting, fly-fishing, coyote hunting, and my family. I shoot year round so maybe more than 25% but I tie flies year round too. I call coyotes 6 months out of the year. All in all those four things take up about 150% of my time! HEHEHE

RE: 100% or 50% hunter
I love bowhunting more than anything but when breaking it down to actual % it really don't take up much. I am 100% outdoors, but that involves tons of trout fishing, bass fishing, small game hunting, predator hunting, shooting/reloading, archery deer huting and rifle deer hunting. I think that covers it, maybe a couple camping trips thrown in also.

RE: 100% or 50% hunter
Mentally 100% deer hunting, I confess that I think about it all the time. I love to scout with my kids and practice as much as I can. I think about it when I fish or do anything with the family or by my self! HELP!!!!!!! Actually now that the twins are older it has become a family thing, so it is getting better.

RE: 100% or 50% hunter
I'd have to say 50% at best. My lifestyle I say would be biker more than hunter. The scooters take up a ton of the warm months but I'm doing spring turkey hunting for the first time this year. The trick for me is how to mount the bow on the bike and then go on hunting trips. I always thought I was a ladder day cowboy but I think I may have to adjust to "Honorary Native American" since I'm a bow nut.
Work is just something to pay for what I do. |
RE: 100% or 50% hunter
God then family then work are my priorities. Bowhunting is just one of many hobbies I have. Of those it is the most on my mind since you can only talk and think so much on racquetball, golf, etc. I'm thinking bowhunting for turkeys January through May, scouting for new spots is throughout the winter too. Summer is 3-D season and putting up the stands, fall to end of year is hunting deer. Of my hobbies I would say I spend 50% of my time on bowhunting.

RE: 100% or 50% hunter
Archery and white-tail hunting are my life. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about it or I'm not planning for next fall.It is a passion that burns deep inside of me.

RE: 100% or 50% hunter
I never stop thinking about whitetails. But I put GOD, My wife and son before hunting. Fortunately she (my wife) knows my heart and my love for hunting year around. (hunting, scouting and shed hunting)She is very supportive and sacrifices a lot of her time for me. I scout over 200 days per year, and thats not counting the 90 some odd days of bow hunting season. If I am not scouting, hunting, or shed hunting I am reading or writing about whitetails. I have a great job that allows me to hunt or scout at least in the evenings year around, plus I get the summers off. My time spent in the woods allows me to feel as close to God as I can get. I have always believed there was a greater power involved in all things that happen. When I have my priorities straight with God and Family, my hunting is always at its best. I look to the Lord for guidance in or out of the woods in all things in life. When I find and figure out a buck over two or three years...and finally harvest him I know it was first a blessing, second due to the time and work put in. Hunting for me personally will never be a sport or a hobby, instead a way of life my father passed on to me.

RE: 100% or 50% hunter
