HOYT BOWS
im thinking of getting 2 new bows- one is a mathews and one is a hoyt- about the hoyt- I dont need the 2002 model, id be ok with a 2001 but it must be a 70# w/29 " draw length AND have at least a 34 or greater draw length I was looking at a Havotec/ shop wants 410.00 for it bare is this a good deal?org 559.00 but 25% off. I see alot of bows that have like 28' draws now can they be adjusted to a 29" or do you have to purchase somethig extra to get that extra inch. Only interested in the Hoyts now -will get around to the mathews later. Hoyts just confusing for me -Havotec- vortec- magna tec- ultra tec
what the heck??? whats all this about? Edited by - mordecaia on 02/13/2002 07:21:03 Edited by - mordecaia on 02/13/2002 07:27:46 |
RE: HOYT BOWS
I thought the Havotec was new this year? Get the Versacam and you won't have to worry about moduals. If you get a Hoyt catalog and study it, you'll find that all models are different. Riser length and geometry, weight, type, of grip, etc. Then the different limb and cam options add up to a ton of options; so I understand the confusion. Have fun- many choices!

RE: HOYT BOWS
just saw the Havotec was around 31" axel to axel so maybe leaves that one out
|
RE: HOYT BOWS
One limb option for that bow gets you up to 33 or 34 inches on that model I think. I don't have my cat handy though.

RE: HOYT BOWS
Mord. buddy, what can I help you with? <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
Yes, Chiefheadhunter is correct. The ZR200 limb version of the Havoctec will allow you to shoot a 34 inch axle to axle length bow...but it also slows the arrow speed down a little when compared with the same cam on an XT2000 version of the Havoctec which is 31.5 inches. The Havoctec was only introduced in 2002. There is no 2001 model Havoctec. Though there is a 2001 model Havoc which was 34 inches from axle to axle. Shops in my area have the ZR200 version of the Havoctec priced around $460, so if you can get it for $410.00 then I would think it is a steal! The XT2000 version sells for around $570 at a minimum. Both the 2001 Havoc and 2002 Havoctec (regardless of which limb) were offered with both the Command Cams(2001)/Command Cams Plus (2002) and the Versa Single cam. All of these cams are adjustable in draw length with the use of an inner cam draw length adjustment module. No bow press is needed nor are multiple modules. But, the 2001 Havoc was also offered with the Saber single cam which is not adjustable in draw length. Any of the 2002 model Hoyt bows that have the Excel cam are, basically, not adjustable in draw length. So, you are going to want to look at either a Versacam or Command Cams Plus model bow for 2002. As for all of the different models..... With XT2000 limbs Havoctec: 31.5 length, 7.5 inch brace height, 3 lb 4 ounce mass weight, IBO speeds are generally around 300 fps depending on cam. Price is around $570 Hypertec: 33 inch axle to axle length, 6 inch brace height, 320 IBO speed, 3 lbs 8 ounces $600-$615 Cybertec: 36 inch length, 6.75 inch brace height, between 304-309 IBO speed, under 4 lbs mass weight, $600 Ultratec: 38 inch length, 7 inch brace height, around 300 IBO speed, about 4 lbs mass weight, $600-$625 Protec: 38-42 inch length, 8.25 inch brace height, around 295 IBO speed, about 4 lbs mass weight, $600-$625 Vortec: 37 inch axle to axle length, 7.5 inch brace height, around 295 IBO speed, under 4 lb mass weight, $450 (only available with ZR200 limbs) All of the above bows have machined aluminum risers. The following bows use cast Magnesium risers Magnatec: 35 inch axle to axle length, Under a 4 lb mass weight, 7 inch brace height, 300 IBO speed, $390 MTSport: 34.5 inch axle to axle length, Under 4 lb mass weight, 8.5 inch brace height, 280-290 IBO speed, $250 (only available with ZR200 limbs). As far as the ZR200 limbs go, add roughly 3 inches to the axle to axle length on the bows that they are available on and subtract roughly $110 in price. Certain models are also available with XT3000 and LXPro limbs that add to the bows axle to axle length. I hope this makes it a little simpler for you. Edited by - PABowhntr on 02/16/2002 06:47:44 |
RE: HOYT BOWS
Yeah, um I think Frank covered this one. Tell me you don't have all of that info memorized?!
|
RE: HOYT BOWS
I was guessing that frank would come along and take care of buisness on this one. Sure as heck did!
Nice effort Frank.:) |
RE: HOYT BOWS
Actually, yes, I do. Would you like to know about the different dimensions, materials and construction of the limbs?
The difference in riser design among the same model between 2001 and 2002? <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> ...ok, ok, I know...I have no life. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> |
RE: HOYT BOWS
I BELIEVE THERE ARE A FEW HOVOCTEC MODELS FLOATING AROUND THAT DO NOT HAVE THE DUAL TRACK IDLER. SO MAKE SURE YOU CHECK. I JUST GOT THE CYBERTEC!!! WOW!! VERY IMPRESSED.
|
RE: HOYT BOWS
Hmmm, though I have never seen or heard of one that may be a distinct possibility...maybe some leftover parts from last year and a riser from this year....<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

RE: HOYT BOWS

Boy am I glad that Mathews does not try to confuse me like that! Always adding Deer Cam picts. Check often. www.geocities.com/hfpmad |

RE: HOYT BOWS
Frank, don't mean to get nit picky but the ata on the ProTec is 38" and not 40". Don't mean any disrespect in any way, but just thought you'd like to know.:)
