I want a new bow, please give me some ideas.

I bought my wife a new bow for Valentines day. She shot several bows but picked the Hoyt SierraTec.
I own a six year old PSE ThunderBolt. I think it is my turn for a new bow? I do not keep up to date with all of the new bows that are out on the market. Infact I have not even held a new bow in the last six years! I am way behind the times so please fill me in on what is new & improved. I looked at the Hoyt XTec, ViperTec & RazorTec yesterday. I only looked I did not shoot either bow.
How about Mathews & BowTech what is new & improved with these two companys?

The one thing I would like this bow to be shooter friendly. I want a bow that is easy to tune & stays tuned. The bow must also be fun to shoot. I do not want a bow that will magnify a small mistake. So I am pretty much ruling out the shortest & fastest bows on the market.

;)If you were to shoot any of those Hoyts you looked at, I am fairly confident you would want to buy one. How does the wife like hers? I just bought an Ultratec, and wow...I love it. Very smooth, unbelievably quiet and accurate, and forgiving. Dont think you can really go wrong with any of the newer bows on the market. But, just like with firearms, the bow has to fit you. You may find that a Hoyt fits better than a Matthews, or the other way round. I would suggest sticking to pro shops, where you can actually shoot them before you buy them, that way you know what they feel like.

Of those 3, Xtec. However, don't discount the Protec or Ultratec, both really forgiving bows, especially the Protec

If you are going to be using this bow for target then I would say go with the ultrasport, but if it is going to be a hunting bow then I would recommend either the x-tec or the razortec. I am on a prostaff for a local hoyt dealer, so I have shot all of the hoyt line. You won't be disappointed with the way any of them shoot. Remember, the most important thing is that it feels comfortable in your hand( whether it is a hoyt or it turns out to be another name brand).

Mathews Outback, you would be cheating your self if you didn't test shoot one.

I have shot archery for 29 years. I just bought a new Mathews LX. It is the BEST shooting bow I have EVER owned. I have previously owned, Bear, Jennings, PSE and 3 other Mathews bows. Try out one of these as well as the Outback.

I will not tell you you should go shoot this or that brand or this or that bow. I will say go and shoot every bow you think of buying and maybe some you aren't thinking of buying. This is the only way to truly find the bow for YOU. I think you will be impressed with the new bows as they are truly fun to shoot. Even some of the shorter axle to axle bows really are a dream to shoot. Basically don't count out any brand, and have fun looking.

I agree with the above, I would try all these bows then figure out what you like best. I shoot and LOVE my bowtech.

I think for hunting in the Hoyts the Xtec is the way to go. In the Mathews the Outback. And in the Bowtech I think the '04 Single cam Patriot. I don't think you can look at just the ATA anymore. When 32-34 ATA bows are coming in with 23-25 inch risers they're not the same animals as when you picked up the thunderbolt.

In the BowTech line I'd suggest the Liberty, Patriot single, or Pro 40 Freedom cam. All three are accurate, quiet, and have generous brace height. Recoil and vibration are very low to nill on all three, also.
People that I know shooting Hoyts like the Xtec.
