I would love to start looking, but we still have a lot of snow on the ground.

Some have just now started dropping their horns here in central Maryland. Last night I had 3 bucks in the yard with horns. A big spike and a 4 point still had both sides, the other had a small 4 on one side. Later I noticed the big spike(10 inches or maybe more) feeding with a big bodied deer. I couldn't see the scabs on his head because of where he was standing but he had a big set of gonads. He was a huge deer so I figure it was one of the big ones I've been seeing but hadn't seen in a week or so and he'd dropped both sides. Give them another week or two. Usually closer to the end of the month.

Find sheds????? I still can't find my driveway thats under 2 ft. of ice and snow.

I went out looking today and found my first shed of the year. It was one side of what would have been an 8 point. All of the points except the brow point were acorn points. It is pretty cool looking.

Got to have buck to shed them before you can find them. The 3 pt. rule doesn't do squat in my area. All you see is doe when you go spotting. I believe they are still killing 85% of the bucks where I'm at.

I am still seeing quite a few bucks with racks yet in my area. I probably won't start looking until the beginning of next month.

YUP,.... still early. I find it best to just walk into the thickest bedding areas they'r using. They have little trails and paths running in and around. The sheds are usually right on or near the paths. Seems like they drop them when they get up and start moving, shake or hook a branch or something and they drop.
