What draw weight do you shoot?

I just want to know what most people use for draw weight. Right now im shooting 65lbs. Just kinda curious as to what most people shoot for whitetails.

RE: What draw weight do you shoot?

I do most of my practice at #55 then a month or 6 weeks before the season opens I go to 60# and broadheads. But I shoot alot during the summer. Sometimes a couple hundred arrows a day. I shoot a set of 40 arrows, then go do something else, then shoot for awhile, then do something else, and so on. Hope this helps.

I shoot 65lbs no matter if im practicing or hunting. Ive already been shooting at targets and i still have another 8 or 9 months before season. Im just seeing what the average hunter pulls back.

68# right now only beacuase of my short draw length. I will throttle back to 65 or less when I get a faster bow.

I have one at 67 and my back up at 76. The 67 is my new bow. I bought it 10 pounds lighter than the old one because as the man said, "I'm getting older".

RE: What draw weight do you shoot?

I shoot 142 lbs. , but with the Hoyt cam & 1/2 , it feels like 35!! LOL!

Really, low 70's(usually 73) with 65 percent let-off.

Killed my first deer with a bow in 84. I was 11, the bow was set at 41 lbs. An ancient jennings, I think star hunter or something. The doe went about 40 yards, heart shot. Arrow placement is the single most important factor. You can gut shoot one at 100 lbs and still lose him!!

60 Pounds with 75% let off. I have a bad shoulder and if I try to shoot above 60 pounds, my shoulder pops right out of the socket.[:o]

RE: What draw weight do you shoot?

Fred Bear made a one-arrow kill on an elephant with a 75 pound recurve - not a high performance hard cam compound mind you... a RECURVE - using an 1100 grain arrow.

75 pounds for a 10,000 pound elephant. 70+ pounds for a 150 pound deer?

Just a little something for your consideration. ;)

RE: What draw weight do you shoot?

I was at 75# but a good freind pointed out the how to set your proper weight limit. Hold your bow straight out and pull straight back on the string. If you can't get that string back with out extra movement, your set too high. Wtih deer close to you, you want the lease amount of movement. Also, keep in mind most states only require 35# minimum. I am now around 65-70#.
